Runflats finished as from 1 March on 1 series!

In Belgium, as from next March, all new 1 series wil be delivered with normal tires and MobiliyKit. Thus back to the non-runflats after a couple of years. How things sometimes change quickly.

Do you mean March 2009? If so, and BMWNA follow suit, my prayers will have finally been answered.

Info from my local BMW dealer in Belgium. Don't know if is a general rule. But be sure it will come over. There are probably too many inconvenieces reported.
In any case, my 135i, delivery end of Februari, will still be equiped with the runflats.

This would be great if it was worldwide. One can dream. My guess is that only reason for this would be BMW cutting costs and runflats cost more than regular tires + mobility kit.

Ugh. Knowing BMW, it will be a can of compressed air, lug wrench, tiny jack, and spare lug nut - priced at $800.00 US.

United BMW (forum sponsor) already retails the Mobility Kit. I bought one, as I'm a blasphemer running around on my non-runflats!

I think some more digging on this subject should be done, anybody tried to ask their dealer about this? I know mine is useless

PS: I think this thread should be either in the general or Order forums where it will get more exposure

Good luck. Mine, and every other one in Canada, is still waiting on 2009 1-Series brochures (BMW Canada's website still has the 2008 brochure online). Until I pointed it out, nobody even knew that the Sport package's steering wheel precludes the heated steering wheel with the Premium package.

I have gotten over it...the M-Sport steering wheel is far better...but I think that it's a bad show that even BMW Canada couldn't even figure it out for a few weeks, after I'd inquired with them on the subject.

For a good understanding and on inquiry to the Belgium importer: only on 16" wheels.

I believe so, it would be surprising if BMW would ditch runflats in general.

Non-runflats are really the way to go on a performance car anyway. Runflats are on average
several pounds heavier per tire than non-runflats...and to further compound the problem, it
is all unsprung weight. If BMW is trying to make the 1-er their newest "sportiest" platform, then
I think this is really the way to go I can say that as soon as the runflats
need to be replaced...non-runflat is the way to go

I actually like the runflats. I dont track drive and while I appreicate the weight savings of running non runflats, I like knowing that if i hit something that blows a tire out i can drive it far enough to get it fixed and not be on the side of an interstate putting on a spare (that does not exist = FUCT'D)
