Thinking of WORK VS-XX black on Space Grey....

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of changing the wheels on my car and I'm looking at the WORK VS-XX or the VS-FX with a black face. I would probably also get the rivets custom done in black from the factory.

I know there is a AW 135 around with the Brombacher wheels on it in black and that looks pretty good, but I want an 18 not a 19 and I think the Brombacher only comes in 19.

What do you guys think?
My car is Space Grey and I have some carbon bits and shadowline grills/trim. I don't think there are any Space Grey cars around with black rims yet?
Pics of the car here:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20077

One last thing the guy who sent me these pics said this:
WORK VS XX / New FX has reversed outer rim (flat).
WORK Brombacher has step / normal outer rim.
I don't know what he means by this can anyone elaborate? Is this referring to the lip or the dish?

The CS-XX is nice it was what I was originally looking at, but the WORK wheels guy sent through some pics of the FX as well I've never seen it before.

He has some samples I'm going to try and have a look tomorrow.

BEAUTIFUL! Check out our 335i. Gold on black. Not very common but works well on AW.

It seems like the trend is going back and forth now.

80's, deep dish wheels
90's no lip wheels
2000's - mix of both. I think the BMW CSL wheels started the no-lip trend for BMW's.

Opinions? Lip or no lip?

Sorry for the giganto sized pic, but here's what I'm talking about. This is now known as the CSL "style" wheels.

2000's were all about how many inches of lip you had and chrome everything, then you had to have colour coded wheels...

Then there was the pinstriping craze and black wheels trend, now it's all about how concave your wheels are. Also weight is more important then ever before to many people.

Thank goodness that the spinner thing is over.

But I have to admit that the plastic hub cap spinners get me every time. Gives me a little chuckle every time I see them.

Mmm concave wheels are really nice. I looked at the CSL reps that a lot of people here are getting and they look nice. They are a heck of a lot cheaper then the Works too! I'm a long way from the states though and if something was to go wrong with the finish it would be a real hassle to get it fixed up.
If the paint is even a little soft they will probably chip to bits over here. The roads in NZ are in pretty bad condition, you can count on stones getting flicked up.

I haven't seen much around in that concave style locally.

I do like the non stepped lip on the VS-XX better than the Brombacher now I've seen them in real life.

I do like VS-XX though. I'm going down to look at some tomorrow with my gf (she insists ), the guy has some in a gunmetal grey colour with black rivets. I'll snap some pics and put them up here. The gunmetal might work with my car, but it might look a little funny if it clashes with the grey of my car.

I do like the Brombacher, but since the lip is stepped the face is smaller and it makes the wheels and the dish look small I think. I believe they only come in 19's as well? Since I want to stay on 18's that rules them out for me unfortunately.

Went down and had a look at the VS-XX today. Gunmetal Grey with custom black rivets.
Note the blue is just a protective strip they come with the standard polished lip. These are 20's in the pic but I would get 18's. He didn't have any 18's in that colour with black rivets. I was more interested in seeing that that style of wheel and colour would look like with my car. I like them! Might have to take the plunge....

How much dish do you think you can get at the rear? What size and offset are you looking at? I'm not sure how much dish you can get in that style on a +45 offset. That colour looks fantastic though. I think that rim colour would look great on a AW 135 as well.

I really like the VS-XX but my girlfriend is busting my balls not to get them. She really doesn't like them and keeps going on about how they don't suit the car and make it look like a boy racer car and the spokes are too vieny.

I think it's crazy, that BBS style is classic on a BMW!
I still like them and am thinking about getting them though. I'll be going for 18's.
Front: 8 inch with +47 offset (25mm dish)
Rear: 9.5 inch with +52 offset (62mm dish)

These are actually the sizes recommended by work for the car.

Yeah I really like the colour. I was looking at Matt Black but I think that Grey is quite different and nice. I feel sometimes you lose the detail in a black wheel too.
