Wheel fitment question....
Ok, I found a set of wheels I like for my winter setup (135i) but I'm unsure if they would work. Here are the specs:
17x8 20mm 5x120 74.1 CB I know that there have been numerous questions like these asked before, so please no flaming. And Gill, please feel free to chime in on your expertise on wheel fitment. Also, if these specs don't work, what should I be looking for for spec range? Thank you.:drinking:

Sorry, no chance. The offset is at least 20mm too low.
All the other specs would be fine with centering rings if they cleared the brakes.

Agreed, no way they'll fit.

Ok. What is the lowest and highest offset number that would work?

It's not an absolute. It depends on the individual wheels. The wheels that fit generally have around 40 to low 50's offset.
That does not mean every wheel with a 40-50mm offset will work. It depends on other variables, especially caliper clearance.

Thanks Gill. What numbers determine if it clears the calipers? Isn't that what the offsets mean? If possible, could you make an ultimate sticky guide regarding wheel fitment and different sizes? That would be very valuable in the wheel thread.

Yeah, I looked through that before posting this thread, but didn't answer questions on what offset range to stay in or specifics of correct fitments. Some of the people had rubbing issues or were rolling fenders. Thanks though Mikeo.

Here're my best estimates:
