Got into trouble fast

I've only had the car for a week and I already got my first speeding ticket. 20mph over posted limit, $127.

Might be time to invest in a radar detector.

Better then the tickets here in FL. I haven't even gotten my vehicle but I have been driving an out of state truck *seems to be a target for cops* since i pretraded my SUV and have gotten two tickets in 30 day!!!!

First ticket doing 20mph over, $210. Second one just yesterday was 15mph over, $185. I just bought an Escort 9500i tonight.

Ouch. Sorry to hear it Dan. As Larryn said many postings back - this care is a "hooligan". It can get you into trouble. Good idea on the radar.

I just bought a k40 from my dealer, the will supposedly pay for any tickets you get in the first year. I will likely test that garauntee.

How about when your insurance skyrockets?

I feel your pain Dan. I got nailed on the way home from VA over Memorial Day weekend. I've got a radar detector (and a good one at that) but the guy was running a LASER trap in a curve (great location on his part) and I was nailed. Stupidity on my part without a doubt.

The ironic thing is, my last ticket just dropped off my record that same week, and for the first time since I was 16 I was going to have a completely clean record. I'm going to try to do driving school or something to keep the points off. If you have that option it's worth it over the long run.

I wish I was back in FL. The Ticket Clinic kicks ass for sure. You may have to pay the fine on top of the lawyers fees, but they always get you out of the points.

I'm debating whether its worth fighting the tickets or not at this point. I didn't know about Ticket Clinic but I do now .

I'd call them if I were you. If you let these two slide, and then get one more, you're on the verge of loosing your licensce, and in FL if you loose it for points, you can't even get a work permit to get back and forth to your job without jumping through serious hoops. Trust me....I didn't drive for a year.

Well I'm able to take the driving class to save myself points on one of the tickets the other ticket i can't take the class for. I just can't believe two tickets in 30 days. I loved my White Explorer SUV. I had dark tinted windows and a crap load of RF and GPS antenna's on it. Seem's cops didn't touch me even while doing 90 down the interstate. I even had a State Trooper come up behind me one time doing 90 also, sat there for a second then just got up beside me.

Wish my new BMW would pass for a cop car

Sorry to hear! However, if you did that in here in California, you'd easily pay more than double that. I think minimum speeding fines here are close to $300. May I ask where and how this officer caught you?

Nothing for that, but that is a risk you take when speeding, at least the ticket won't cost me anything.

Both officers got me with radar, one was a moving radar, he was coming the opposite direction and said I was doing 20 over. The last ticket was a hand held, he had a speed trap setup and hit me. I'm wondering about this ticket though... 3 lane road, cars were in front of me on both sides, i was in the middle. He told me the radar was put right on me though. Damn out of state tags!

Radar, hiding down a side street. Not sure if a detector would have helped or not.

I just looked up the demerit system in Nevada and this ticket is barely going to effect me. It's only worth 2 points and I have to get 12 in a year before they take away my license. So as long as I don't get 5 more in the next year I'm safe. In fact Nevada seems to be pretty lax on speeding. You only get 5 points for doing 41+ over the speed limit. You get 4 for running a stop sign.

Two questions:
Google what? Who is the manufacturer?

Who made the guarantee, the dealer or the manufacturer?

I think he was referring to the portable unit made by K40. They pay for the speeding tickets you get within a year of purchasing the unit, with some exceptions (school zone, etc.).

That is correct Nice one, K40 is the manufacturer and they are the ones that offer the guarantee.

20mph over would be an automatic loss of license here in Victoria Australia. Not to mention the $495 fine.
