1st Test Drive

Just got back from Stevens Creek BMW. The Sales guys were all over their new 135. It had the premium package, sport, and auto. They insisted I take it out, so how could resist? This car is brilliant! Acceleration was incredible and the braking amazing. The sales guys said they believe it's faster then the M3 up to about the first half mile. It should be interesting to hear what other’s opinions are on that point. Nevertheless, I'm ordering one now!

EB1 Coupe, I went to my local dealer and drove the same config; black on red leather, auto, 135i. Now, I'm 100% against auto transmissions, but the dealer gave me the keys and did not go with me. That made all the difference. Simply put, this is an amazing car. The engine was extremely smooth, pulled like crazy (I hit 80 on the on ramp before realizing it) and just sounded wonderful.

My biggest concern was inside room (especially rear as I have a 4 year old), but this car feels only a bit smaller than the 3 series. So, that hurdle was passed.

Then I learned the heartbreaking news. My dealer ordered one for me, it's in transit and he got Monaco Blue with Taupe leather. That would be great except I had put a deposit on a black on black! So, put in a new order and have to wait extra whatever weeks. Did get $800 off MSRP so at least that's unexpected.

But, lest I digress around logistics; I have to summarize. Even with the automatic this car feels so fast I actually considered the 128i for a minute. It surpassed even my highest expectations.

It'll be interesting to hear all the other 'first drives' out there. I wonder if any dealers received a manual for test drives?

My dealer called me today and said they have two MT's in, but they'd probably be gone by the end of the day. :bs:

I'll schedule my test drive by week's end.

With all this talk of 1-Series arrivals, and my CA not answering the phone, I'm jetting over to the dealer to verify they aren't pulling a fast one.:biggrin:
