I think I've given up on the 1

Due to constant pressure from the Mrs. to get a 4 door I think I've given up on my 135. I was initially attracted to the 135 because of the bang to buck factor in a nice compact but my damn local dealer got me to test drive a 6MT 335 sedan and I think I'm sold. Once the Evo MR comes out and I test drive it I'll probably make up my mind. Barring an out of this world test drive in the 135, I think I'm going 4 doors.

you'd even consider buying an EVO over a 335i? Omg.

Can't go wrong with a 6MT 335i sport.. I would certainly take a 335i sedan if I could afford a few of the options to go along with it..

Seems absolutely absurd coming from someone who owns a Mini. Obviously, you've never driven an Evo then.

What is absurd is how you related his comment to him owning a Mini.

Exactly how is the mini relevant?

Its related because he questioned a choice between an Evo and a 335. There's more to a car than the badge in front. The Evo is a great handling, fun to drive car as with the Mini. Neither have the big brand name nor are very luxurious but people buy them both because of how they perform.

I guess for some, a badge means a lot more.

I don't think its a "badge" issue, its more appearance. The EVO is a very ugly car. Its a great performer, but I think most people want little bit more in the interior and looks department. The 135i is no great looker either, but it has balance.

If you need, excuse me, if your wife demands 4 doors, wait for the M3 Sedan. The Big Bang Theory. Big bucks too, but hey you got 4 doors.

^wow why is everyone so offended by the mini comment, espeially after he already explained what he meant by it.

personally i dont like the new shape of the evo, tho it looks decent in white. any other color makes it look so much softer than the evo ix's

If you need 4-doors for growing kids, trade them in for smaller ones. That way they will fit in the back seat. Just keep trading them in every 3-4 years, you'll be fine.

If you are having a problem with GWS (Grouchy Wife Syndrom), you might take a look at the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart too. The budget 25k estimated price is wifey-friendly, and I'm betting the aftermarket will have it tuned up beyond the new Evo power levels within months of it's release.

Without driving one I can say the 135i will give a more compliant ride for the kid than Evo or Mini. If 2 doors is what's stopping you then 135i will satisfy your need no matter what.

Congratulations on whatever car you get. I think the 335i sedan may satisfy the power need and luxary at the same time. Most of us here don't even know how much better a performer the 135i may be over the 3. BTW if you guys wanted just the badge, you wouldn't be buying a one, considering its the ENTRY level BMW, which I am not saying is bad, just saying people may look at it as the cheaper BMW, but who cares the car is a beast!

I'm not picking on you, Chris, but isn't it strange that people refer to the 1er as entry-level with a slightly negative connotation, yet the 3 Series, which was entry-level for the past three decades, was never really characterized that way. You'd never hear the sarcastic "Oh, he got a 3 series. He must really want a BMW..."

Very true, I think because its the NEW series below the 3, people may look at it as that. It could also be what 1 you get. I'm sure you'll get people who see the 128i as the entry level car and the 135i as more status. It's just how people are. When the 3 was the lowest I'm sure people who look at the lowest 3 you can get as the cheaper BMW too.
