electric popping noise when hitting the dash?

I was reinstalling the big dash trim piece and hit it with my hand a few times to make sure it was seated properly. as i did that, the passenger side speaker (the one in the door, not the a pillar) made a popping noise. radio was off. i experimented a bit and any wack on the dash makes the speaker pop, and sometimes leaves it stuck buzzing. clearly a loose connection somewhere, but wondering where to go first? hitting the door didn't do anything, so it feels like something in the dash itself... are there connectors there? above the glovebox roughly?

I think I have an M3 problem.

Pretty sure the main power connection is in that area. There was a recall out to replace some wires. You may want to see if your car had it done. Also removing the glove box to get a better look at the area is not that difficult.
