I'd recommend staying on South Beach if you've never been to Miami before. Where you stay will depend on your budget but there are some ridiculous hotels out there. Plenty of good restaurants, again depending on budget.

A couple of recommendations:

- Have lunch on Lincoln Road. It's located in between 16th and 17th streets on South Beach, and runs from Washington Ave to Collins Ave. It's closed to vehicle traffic and has a TON of restaurants, shops, etc. It's always lively and there are usually lots of vendors selling stuff. You can eat outside at nearly every restaurant and it's a great place to people watch. For restaurants there, I'd recomend Nexxt or Spris, but you really can't go wrong. You can easily spend half a day walking, eating, and browsing the shops.

- Stay away from downtown Miami. It's touristy but caters to the foreigners who come in on the cruise ships. Shitty and not worth your time.

- MAKE SURE you eat at "Big Pink" on South Beach, located on Collins Ave and 1st St. Works for any budget, and has an absolutely amazing menu. Open early for breakfast and really late for post-bar/club food - it's right across the street from Prive / Opium if you're into that. Trust me when I say Big Pink is worth it.

If you want recommendations on other restaurants, I can help with that as well. Depends what type of food.

Keep in mind that you are coming in at high season, so it will probably be a little crowded.

Miami Subs - I wouldn't miss it for the world! Eat there everytime I go!

Aventura Mall is nice if you're in that area....New Port Pier is very nice (I used to go when it was free, bastards started charging now!)

Lived there for over 12 years, great city.

Haha, yea, better start training the peripheral vision now!

Only been to Miami once so I can't give too many recommendations, but be prepared for the air! It's like breathing 50% of the air you get in Seattle. You'll get used to it but some people (especially a few from the crystal clear northwest) complain about the humidity. It's just down South air. Have fun! I loved the three days I was there!

Whatever you do, don't stay at the ESSEX HOTEL. Your stuff will get stolen. I recommend you stay at the Loew's Hotel. Its one of the best.

Hey, I just got married in Key West a month ago...Fantasy fest was going on, it was awsome. Where you guys stayin, we stayed at the Casa Marina, kinda far away from the action but a really nice hotel.
