Another “help me choose a car” thread
Yeah, I'm so torn between these cars that I don't really know what I want.
Been looking at the following.. 1. E63 S 2. M5 3. Model S performance or Plaid 4. Model X 5. RSQ8 6. X5M It's mainly because I'm stuck with either a 4 door sedan vs SUV and getting away from those maintenance items like oil changes / gas... I'm just torn and would like to know what you guys would do. Maybe other choices? |

E63S would be my choice easily.
It solves the issue of being torn between a sedan and SUV as you can get the wagon which has all the benefits of a sedan and SUV and none of the SUV cons. Not to mention it has the best engine and exhaust of your choices, the handling is excellent, the refresh has a more comfortable suspension, the interior is lovely, and it will hold its value stronger due to it being a lower production wagon (aka unicorn). M5 would be my second choice but I don't find it as exciting as the E63S. Tesla's aren't really fun outside of straight line performance so, I'd skip those. I'd also skip the high-performance SUV's and just get a regular luxury SUV and use the spare cash on a sports car. |

My order (from what you listed) would be...
1. E63 S 2. M5 3. X5M 4. RSQ8 5. Model S performance or Plaid 6. Model X

E63 S all the way. Stunning body lines and an absolute beast/torque monster. The 63 amg variant engines are among the best power-plants on the road IMO...and best sounding if that’s important to you.
Test drove a couple x5ms for wife...utterly ridiculous and defies physics. I dare say it’s almost too much for an SUV. Feel like I’m a few years away from an elect. car. Personally, I want to see more car options and more robust charging infrastructure. Good luck with your decision- some great options! Maybe also consider and go drive an RS6/7? |

The E63S caught my eye again when we went to order the wife's GLS 450, so I wondered what you guys thought before I ask for a formal test drive.
My needs aren't much... I've tracked my modded 335i a while ago, and I may look at something to do that in while still my DD. For that I think it narrows it down to the merc, bmw and Tesla plaid. |

New M5's are also at dealers now and have a few updates in the tech and design. Those two would be the ones to compare in my opinion. |

I always felt that C, E, S class Mercedes didn't work well below 65 or 70 mph and thought it might be the front tow angle as the cause.
At 80 mph plus the Benz are incredible, rain, snow LOL . If doing a lot of in town or 55 60 mph motorway cruising the M5 (low profile tires on brick/pave is also an issue) may be nicer and it's not just the steering. If you test drive them curious if you find my experience accurate. |

If you value interior quality then Tesla is not in same league as MB or BMW.
If you have $$$ and want something more special than get MB GT63 or Porsche Panamera GTS. You are looking at over $150k on those though. M8 GC is another great option. |

Lol @ SUVs and EVs.
Take a look at the RS7 or a Panamera variant as well.

Panny ST is also a good idea to look at, one of the best looking wagons on sale, and a nice mix of luxury and sport, although I'd go for the V8's only. The used ones are where to look at in my opinion as the depreciation is severe, I remember for a while they still had brand new 2018 Turbo's early in 2020 with huge discounts. You have SUV's and also sedans here. There are so many variables here to determin...I would likely choose the M5 but it depends on how many kids and dogs you have.
