'16 M3 - GTS Tune to Stock Tune = Wild Child?

Purchased my car used and it would show GTS on the dash after turning off the car. After some research, it appears that they had flashed it to the GTS tune. I had taken the car to the dealership for some minor items but mentioned a rough 1-2 2-1 shift - they ended up flashing to the latest transmission software and M3 now shows on my dash. Bummer for losing the flash but that is what it is.

My main item - it sure seemed like the standard Comp tune is much more tail happy than the GTS was. I got the back end out a lot easier than previously done and when getting on it from a stop it really wagged a lot more. Is this a result of the different tuning or am I just crazy?

What I'm wondering is if the GTS reigns things in more than the Comp. It certainly feels like it's not kicking in as much and what I expected in the turn DID NOT happen. It almost feels a little more floaty in the corners.

It makes me want to flash back ASAP

Most likey this, one of the first mods to the F8x is to get the GTS/Euro MDM and GTS diff coded along with a good set of tires.

It totally transforms the car.

A lot of cars have the gts logo coded in without the tune. It's a simple mod that is quite common. Your car was probably just on an old stock tune.

I didn't know the gts had a different startup logo. I like the M logo that shows up on the dash. I disabled the warnings on the iDrive as well so it loads straight to that M splash screen while the nav boots up.

Sounds like it had a GTS rear diff coding. People say it makes the car feel quite a bit more planted during hard acceleration.

Definitely. I have a non-zcp f82 and it turned into a different car after the gts steering/diff/mdm and cs damper tunes. Makes a big difference even with stock power and if anyone is going to tune the ECU I'd highly recommend this as well

Ok - I'll see about a Thor and get it back to what I felt was more "normal".

Prior to the update from BMW, the car would get the back end out from a stop and the right amount of gas but it didn't wag much. Now you properly have to control and modulate. Very interesting.

That's how mine feels at times in 3rd, even 4th you can feel the rear wiggle side to side. It never felt dangerous in a straight line but not confidence inspiring either. This is why I'll be tuning it once the summer wheels/ new PS4S' and charge pipes go on since my warranty just ended, no more piggyback.
