I am sorry for being a little slow with technology. Does anyone know how to take a picture on your computer and send it to a cell phone as a text message?

Sure. Go to Myxertones and click on the link for making your own ringtones and wallpaper. It's very easy.

Edit: You have to create an account, but it's free.
