Porsche wanted a Typ 64 so bad... they made one themselves!! One is on display at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. The car isn't finished but you can see the car's "bones".
The Typ. 64 was built to race in the Berlin to Rome race in the fall of 1939. However the invasion of Poland squashed those plans. And the out break of WWII. Dack

If you google something like Nazi world speed record cars it’s interesting the body styling.

Typ. 64 Porsche - Berlin to Rome rennwagen...
Quote:
Yeah... the black car is from the Prototyp Museum in Hamburg. I think it was on loan to the Peterson Museum for their "Porsche Effect" exhibit last fall. I took these photos back in January 2017 when I visited the Prototyp Museum(in Hamburg) to see a special exhibit on BMW ArtCars. It was amazing!! Prototyp Museum - Hamburg, Germany... BMW ArtCars on display at the Prototyp Museum. The ArtCar display was only for a few months. Now the cars are back at BMW Classic. We show you BMW ArtCars seen in Hamburg, Germany... https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1353261 .

The auction evidently didn't go well. Not only did it not sell, this Bloomberg article called the event "a joke", "a debacle", "an auction blunder".

I think Porsche should attempt to acquire it privately and put it where it belongs. Sotheby's I think has a problem now. This is the kind of screw up that can do them some real damage. |

I don’t know, it still seems like Porsche would want it, despite the above. Hmmm... |
