Welp, I don't imagine this tire is repairable?

Can this be repaired? It's on the rear driver side tire

If it cannot be repaired - I only have 3k miles.. can I get away with just replacing that one? It would suck to have to spend 800 dollars for both right now.

Lastly - I don't want to bring the car into the dealer for this. I asked them if I could just bring the tire and they declined and want me to tow the car from my garage to their dealer.. not happening! I suppose I can get the new tire installed and balanced anywhere?

The tread looks pretty good, so you should be able to get away with just getting one new tire now, then replace them all together when the time comes.... with the PS4S.

You can get a new tire from wherever is the cheapest. Is the dealer far? Are they planning to replace for no charge? I mean you're going to have to take the time to remove the wheel, go to the tire shop, get the new tire fit and balanced, then go back and put on. If the dealer is close and they're replacing no charge I would say it is worth it unless you just absolutely don't want to have the car towed.

I would also recommend taking pictures of the rims before anyone does anything. I had a bad experience where two of mine were gouged pretty bad from the tire shop. Unfortunately no pictures from before they took the rims off to prove it though. I learned from that mistake.

Repair it yourself with this $8 kit from amazon and an air compressor.

That’s right on the tread and definitely ok to try fixing yourself first before replacing

Dismount, and have an "INTERIOR Patch" installed. Tire is repairable.

The tire is definitely repairable, but most shops (especially the corporate chains) will probably decline because it's touching the outside shoulder. Find a trusted local tire shop.

Agree on finding a local shop to dismount and repair. Dealer and tire chains almost certainly won’t do it. It should be plugged and patched.

When I lived in Chicago, one of my b school classmates worked as a CA, and after being told officially by the dealership’s SA they wouldn’t repair the tire, my CA friend introduced me to a tech who plugged my tire using something like that repair kit I linked.

Agreed that the plug and patch is the better way to do it, but it’s such a pain to find someone who will do it, and the “outside twizzler” method has been fine for several years and 20+k miles for 2 all season rft I’ve tried it on. With a key advantage being you can diy in 15 min.

I use those gummy strings on at least 6 - 7 punctures on my motorcycle and even car tires.

I went 15k on a touring moto tire after I plugged a puncture.

kits are in all my cars and bikes.

OP - you don't list your location so it is hard to help you with options.

Well if "Somewhere" is Germany, then no, that tire is not repairable. I know this from experience.

P.S. It's so useless when people don't actually say where they're from. I don't get the ultra paranoia. It seems like there's an awful lot of people in this forum that are in the Witness Protection Program...

Hey guys - hoping someone has an answer before I'm forced to drop car off at dealer (h8 this)

I had a flat tire on my rear driver side earlier this week. I took the tire off myself, leaving the car on jack stands.. took the tire/rim to a place that said they could 'patch/plug it' - long story short, the guy couldn't get the tire off rim and I ended up taking the wheel to BMW..

BMW replaced the tire, got the old one off, put new one on.. np..

I put the wheel back on the car, reset TPMS, everything looks good.. but I'm getting a rubbing type noise I did not get before.. you can hear it here:

https://soundcloud.com/alexander-garcia-770978023/noise

Another tidbit is for some reason BMW didn't fill it up with 32 psi.. it only had 19 psi so I had to put air in it.. but this tire isn't losing air.

Any idea what the issue is? i tightened the lug nuts to 105 pounds w/ a torque wrench.. the car isn't wobbling or anything but it definitely wasn't making that noise before and I'm afraid to push it.

Any insight would be cool, otherwise, off to dealer I guess.

Weird - correct tire size and all?

My only thought is to lose the lugs, jack it up, and re-tighten in a cross pattern. Even if you did that the first time, try again.

alternatively, the first guy could have bent the wheel.. But I think BMW would have noticed that.

Once again, you don't say where you are - but in the US, you would have free roadside assistance for this.
