My 18 Build Thread

So - I bought my 2018 new in April right before moving back to LA from Dallas.

I chose it over a 19 as I did not want the first off the line of a new model. I know better.

Mine is a last build 18 - so they were kind of throwing odd bits and pieces from various trims into the last build to get rid of parts.

I have the 35 Sdrive (We also have a 2018 Audi Q7 Prestige loaded) so an additional 4x didnt matter. I would have taken one...but no inventory in the combos I wanted.

then according to Ben it has weird sports bits - Msport steering wheel, shifter, chrome line exterior, and some other bits and baubles.

I wanted dark graphite...knew Msport didn't come in that color.

So my mods to date are:

UV tinted front windshield and panorama sunroof
Black kidney grills
Chrome delete to gloss black
Fender vents
Eibach lowering springs
Aluminum running boards
sound deadening in rear floor and tailgate
door led entry strips
door led entry lights - X5
Racechip GTS Black
Coding work
Having the roof rails wrapped gloss black next Tuesday (they forgot to do them when it was in for the rest of the chrome delete)


I had ordered the AC Schnitzer front end from Ben, but it came in with a crack that could not be worked with. So we went with stock M Sport. Sent the parts out for paint.

So this week we are installing the MSport front fascia and side sills - maybe making me the only MSport-ish around in dark graphite. I didn't want the AC rear bumper cover, and was not sure there was enough difference for the MSport rear bumper cover. Mine came with the bit already painted body color...even the diaper and the part on the original side sills. So i am going to have the part that is black plastic between the colored bumper and the colored diaper wrapped in either somethig so close to dark graphite, or possibly gloss black. I'll have to play with colors to see what looks best.

Next up will be 612M 21's
Bav sound stage 1
Rear way bar if it exists
Comfort seats if I can find them

Its a daily driver that I'll probably keep a year or so then go into the new version.

I'll post more pics as I progress.

Looks great. You’re off to a great start, but be careful as it never seems to end.
You might want to consider pairing the RC GTS Black with the RC XLR, you won’t regret it.

Have you considered other wheels besides the 612 style? Like...310 or 375 style?

I have looked at pretty much all wheels that will work.

I've always been a fan of split 5 spokes...and the M is a great wheel. and it is a 21. I cannot do 22's here in LA. And while the 21 tires are both limited and expensive - its the best middle of the road solution for me,

The 310 and 375 are multispokes (but still great wheels)- very similar to my stock 20's. I would just stick with my 20s if i didn't want a different style.
