437M DD/Track/TT tire options
Hi Guys,
I am in search of a good tire that can serve as my DD and track day/TT tire. Mostly I will be doing DD and Track days so that's the main priority. I know a lot of people use the RE71 but I am hoping to find an alternative that can stand up to track days a bit better and won't wear as fast. I will be doing about 5 track days a year and using the tires about 8 months out of the year before the snows go back on. My setup
I have been looking at the AD08r, the RS4, Geforce rival 1.5s and the MPS4S. Which of the options below should net me a gain in performance over the stock tire setup without introducing poor handling due to excessive squirm or sidewall flex? Option 1: AD08R with 265/25/19 and 295/30/19 Option 2: RS4 275/35/19 and 305/30/19 Option 3: Geforce Rival 275/35/19 and 305/30/19 Option 4: MP4S 265/35/19 and 285/35/19 Appreciate any advice you all may have. I have been reading through all of the threads here and they all talk about the same two tires. |

I am doing something similar to you this year.. I have a summer/track setup and will put my stocks back on in the late fall. I plan to be doing 3-4 track days this season. I have done 1 half day so far on my new setup.
My summer/track setup is apex sm10 19x10 square with 275/35/19 federal 595 rs-rr. They have been holding up well so far and seem to last longer than an re71r would. Note, they are loud on the street and make a pretty distinctive humming noise when cruising. Toyo r888's do this too. On stock wheels I wouldn't recommend going wider than 265/35/19 front and 285/35/19 rear. You need more rim width to handle say a 275f-305r especially if tracking. The bridgestone s007a in the 265f-285r will last longer than re71r but will not be as quick on track. Could be a good option for you. Try out the federal's if you don't mind extra road noise in stock size 255f-275r or 265f-275r . They are super cheap and run wide compared to other tires in the same size. Yokohama ad08r are a little more pricey, but they are a great dual purpose summer/track tire. If going with them I would stick to the same sizing I recommended with the federals since they both don't come in 285. Here are some pics of the 275 federals on a 10in rim. MPS4S...all the way! I got more than a couple of track days out of mine...extremely impressed with how well the rears have held up....the fronts well not so much. But PBIR where I track is known to be extremely rough on fronts, and I could've taken it a bit easier had I not been racing the clock
It's amazing how little these tires give up in terms of DD and wear while still providing tons of grip, to me they really are the sweet spot tire for what you are looking for. They go very well with the M3 mantra, drive everyday and track during weekend. |

Thanks for the tips guys. I forgot to mention that for time trials and for Autox I need 200utg tires. So I guess I will need to choose between the ado8r and the Mp4s. Given that I want more grip I think I will do the Ad08r in stock sizes.
