Clicking noise when unlocking the M4
Hi guys - I've noticed a clicking noise when I unlock my new car
1. Valvetronic motor ? 2. Fuel pump ? Anyone else experienced this ? Thanks |

I get the same exact rattle/click out of mine... haven't brought it up with BMW yet, but will on next service in a few months. I thought it would get better after a bit of driving because mine was sitting on the show room floor for months without being driven... but no change even after 10,000kms. No other issues with locking unlocking, just the noise.
I think it's something to do with comfort access... Mine is a 2018 f82 comp. Let me know if you bring it up with them and what they sort out. D |

Good to know. The car is otherwise completely normal. The M4 CS doesn't have comfort access. My dad thinks it's the valvetronic motor and there is another thread on here I found where people had the valvetronic motor replaced and it resolved the issue. Strange thing is that if it were the valvetronic motor, I wound have thought it should impact driving or throw an error code. Don't know if I want the dealer molesting my engine so soon into ownership. I'll get a definite diagnosis and let you know. |

Valvetronic servomotor usually. But you have to follow the diagnosis charade. First step is to replace the harness. if no change, then the servomotor |

As an example welcome lights are intermittent and I suspect the battery may need replacing. Will get them to try that first. What's strange is why with the unlocking of the car only ? Or when the bonnet or boot is closed. Just plain strange. |

In the end the dealer will replace and I'll make sure they make up for the nuisance they've caused. I'm just gonna tell them to test a new battery and if it keeps Happening - change the motor straight up. Given the car operates normally without error codes - the motor must be doing its job and I suspect this is more an annoyance than a danger to the car itself a One of the great things about warranty I guess |

Speaking of warranty, my car was making a humming sound when the car was above 80kmh. The tyre shop road force balanced all the tyres (Michelin PS4S), no buckles or anything and wheel aligned to OEM specs. Still made a humming sound and then now the dealer are going to replace all the wheel bearings to stop me from complaining. Hoping that wheel bearings would get rid of the humming noise though... |

BMW have also diagnosed mine as a valvetronic and servomotor... Currently ordered parts from Germany and will book it in as soon as the parts arrive..
They said they would need it for 2-3 days... Exact same noise as yours Doc... |

Mine is currently getting the replacement.
Unfortunately dealer has said that upon removal of injectors they were overtorqued beyond spec on removal and this now need to be all replaced. Now I have no car for 10days as they ship injectors from Germany. Pretty peeved!!! Can someone please confirm if removal of valvetronic requires injectors to be removed.?? Danny |

Thanks Doc, bit peeved that no one in AUS had 6 injectors... have to wait 10 days. Oh well
Dealership gave me an m2comp for three days and now have an 1 series m40i for the next 10 days. So all good I guess... |

Yeah I got an M140i loaner and they replaced a tyre with a side wall puncture for free. Service overall was good. |

That service is not just good. that's incredible. replacing a tyre with side wall puncture is classified as external factors which wouldn't be covered by any warranty or consumer guarantee. I'm surprised that they actually replaced it for free.
