M4 Service Interval

I was under the impression the service intervals after the run in service was as the car requires it, or 12 months?

I had my run in service done in July 2018, but under Vehicle Status in the I-Drive it notes it is "Visual Inspection Overdue" and is was due on 091/2019. What is this inspection service?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Greg,

I randomly had a service notification once as well. It turned out to be a filter/microfilter needing replacing.

I was told by the dealership that the car sends information about itself to BMW. If anything is wrong, it will notify BMW and you will/should get a call from a BMW Service department to bring the car in.

What communications channel would it be using to send this data?

You can most likely do a scan yourself to see what needs to be inspected....

When I called the dealer, they just said it was due for an inspection, nothing wrong as such. Very strange. I was told this dealer sets an alert into the system for a six monthly check when they service the vessel.

The simcard in your car.

The same one that operates the emergency SOS function.
