Pure, unadulterated, naturally-aspirated fierceness.
In a world awash in forced induction, may this be a reminder that soul-sucking turbos might offer slightly better performance numbers but those come with a steep price in the auditory and emotional engagement department.

Choose wisely

The one of the 1er V8 hillclimb car is a Judd V8 that is not S65-based.

However, Judd does make S65-based V8 engines that are used in LMP2 racing cars.

Quick specs as follows (click on the link Helmsman shared above for full list of S65 engines in racing cars):

As a result of this research and in order to comply with the ACO’s homologation requirements the new engine will be based on a BMW 4,0 litre V8 engine. This engine has many distinct advantages over other available engines such as its low weight and high specific power output in road going form.
Quote:
The engine was introduced for the 2011 season, following the ACO’s decision to mandate production based engines for the LMP2 category. We chose the BMW S65 4,0 litre V8 as our base engine (fitted to the M3 at the time) as it was available, reasonably priced and had a high specific output in roadcar form. We sourced the cylinder block and heads from our local BMW dealer and set about converting the engine for racing use. Cars fitted with the HK engine won races & championships in the LMP2 category in Europe and Asia.
Country of Origin: UK
Engine: Judd (BMW) HK LMP2 3.6L V8
Description: Modified BMW S65 displacing 3.6L (3592cc or 3597cc)
Max Power: 500BHP
Max RPM: 10,000RPM
Applications (see below): Oreca 03 LMP2, Morgan Judd HK LMP2, Lotus T128 LMP2, Lola B11/40 Judd BMW, etc.
