Trunk Cargo Net/Storage for 2011+?
Gents,
I am used to having a net in my trunk anchored at 4 points. To me this is the best organizer/storage solution. But of course the morons at BMW decided to remove the 2 forward anchors, I think, in 2011. So what you guys doing for trunk storage/net solutions? Are the anchors something I could install and cut holes in the liner for? Any other solutions you swear by? Thanks, |

Maybe it's an E90 thing but my 2011.5 E90 is as wyatth describes. I have the two hooks at the back of the trunk but not the two up front near the rear seats. Not sure if it is the production dates (2011 vs 2011.5 etc) or the E90 vs E92...
Edit: I do use a cargo net and simply double hook it to the points near the trunk...

It must be an E90/92 thing. I have the 2 at the rear of the car, but not by the backseats. Mine is an 11.75, FWIW.
Nonsense to remove this, just as stupid as it was to make fold-down rear seats standard in the 92 but not the 90. I could fold the net and double up at the rear anchors, but that's definitely not as functional as 4 squared anchors. |

^ Agreed, silly to not have all four anchor points! Thankfully I did order my car with the fold-down rear seats but also silly to not have this as standard...

Cutting the liner is easy/clean enough, I did that with some coilovers in my previous E46M. I will also dig for a PN for the front anchors. Would be cool if it's a cheap/simple part that can bolt right in. What a stupid place to save some bucks.

Mine is a Dec/12 production Euro car. This is what mine has. My old '08 had a normal four hook. This 2012 has an updated six hook net.

I would be happy with that net even though I’d need to poke holes in my rubber mat. You also have the normal 4 anchors. Time to search for that 6 anchor net ... any idea how they attach? Do the 6 anchors look oem? Odd you’d have a total of 10 from the factory.

^ Linked above.
I am going to try for the 6 point net pictured above. Looking for all of the PNs now. It seems like an easier install than the primary 2 front anchors. |

Info/PNs on the 6 point net, post #20:
https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1565715 6 x Floor Cover Retainer: 51-47-6-955-266 6 x Floor Cover Hook: 51-47-6-955-265 1 x Cargo Net: 51-47-7-248-530 I am having trouble finding the male and female ends of the anchors. Otherwise it seems like these can be punched into our floor carpet the same way. Im curious how well they anchor though. If the net is holding down something big, wouldn't it lift the carpet/mat? |

I just let the hookers roll around in the trunk however their cold unbeating hearts content. Really upsets the balance of the car at a track’s inflection point though.

The parts arrived and the anchors/hook system are pretty trick. The anchors will be a slight pain to install in the floor because its so stiff, but that stiffness will also prevent it from bowing as the net is loaded. Also way easier to install than the front 2 anchors that BMW removed.
Shout out to Get BMW Parts - the best prices on these parts and great customer service. Guides I've found (may need to run Google Translate): https://www.drive2.ru/l/7909175/ https://www.3er-faq.de/e90/anleitung...chruesten.html I'll try to add my comments when I get around to installing. |

If you're taking grocery getter hooks, I'm about to install some audi flip down hooks. Loved them in my A4.
What exactly would you put in our trunk that would require a storage net? Maybe it's because it's 5am, but I don't see what I would transport that would need a net

Anything from a grocery bag to a pizza, whatever is prone to sliding that Id rather it not.
Used it a lot in the E46. The bag hook would solve half of it but wouldn’t work for my pizza boxes. I actually don’t drive my car much or haul things but at least twice per month I get take out pizza from a small town about 10 miles away, the pizza is the best in CA and the drive there is fun. I dont want a hot pizza on leather and I don’t want it sliding around the trunk. |
