Where do these screws and nuts come from?

I picked up an e93 about a month ago, and had the car in a local shop for some work done shortly thereafter (rod bearing, engine mount, under tray replacement). I was tinkering around the engine bay tonight and saw these two pairs sitting inside the leaf catch tray on the driver’s side. I’m not sure if they had always been there since I first bought the car, or were recently placed there by the mechanic who worked on the project a few weeks back and forgot to put them back onto their original locations.
Any ideas where they may be from?

If I were you, I recommend sending your pictures to the shop and ask the mechanic or mechanics who worked on your M3....possibly forgot to put them back and may remember where they go, which I assume they should recall where they came from. Goodluck

The two phillips head screws are not OEM screws. They don't belong in the car. Not to say someone didn't replace missing hardware with the wrong ones.

The torx screws are applicable to many locations in the car. You'd just have to have a look around so see what's missing. That screw type would be securing something into plastic or a speed nut.

Since you found it close to the driver's side leaf catch tray, check the air filter housing. It has numerous of those used for it.

The engine air filter housing screws are silver, but not washer screws like the ones in the picture. These fillister head screws are what are supposed to be in the air filter box.

Those phillips head screws actually look similar to the OEM license plate screws (just checked both my E93 M3 and my F32 435i)

Thanks, everyone for the inputs. I'll have the shop look at them.

I've had the bumper and whole bottom of the shielding off and none of my screws looked like those.

Welcome back!

Which one of your older cars did you get rid of to acquire this beauty?

I believe it's from the license plate holder.

The Torx screws apply to many locations in the car, so it might be hard to find where exactly they are from. You'd just have to look around to see what's missing (if anything is missing at all). Based on the picture you added, it might be from the air filters. It has a bunch of them there holding it. The two Phillips head screws are not OEM screws. They don't belong in the car. In case you'll miss any other screws, I sued to buy mine from https://www.scrooz.com.au/screws/decking-screws/, and they always had anything I needed.
