Boot release

Hi guys so got my car towed away and they left the battery on it fully drained now I can't get my boot open to access the battery. Where would the emergency latch be I've pulled out the back seats but can't seem to find it.

I'd jump the car from the engine compartment. There is a battery terminal on the passenger side.

There is none on Aussie cars, you'll have to put a battery tender in the engine bay to charge it up just enough

It's a glaring omission that someone at bmw simply forgot about when designed the f80 rear bench with no ski port and it's boot mounted seat release levers

I went through same mental gymnastics when I installed my electric trunk kit thinking if the lock fails, how do I open the boot

In the US, they have an emergency trunk release by law, so I installed this with all the oe parts - and yep you'd get to it by removing the side bolster on rear seat and sliding a hook on a long pole into the boot through the opening

Should be as easy as jump starting it from the terminals under the bonnet.

I don't understand how it went flat. I thought everything turns off when it gets too low so that you can still start

I don't think it's the battery. Check the voltage on the terminals in the engine compartment

Nope, either hook a battery charger up to it, or jump start from another car, the points and how to hook up the leads are in the manual

Garage List
Isn't it under warranty? - just get BMW to have it towed to Adelaide Motors and let them fix it.
