Trouble with Connection via VIN
I have 2018 M3 F80 that I want to start coding. I'm on a MAC (10.13.4) running E-Sys 3.27.1 in Windows 10 through Parallels 12. I set everything up correctly but having trouble connecting with the car. I have an eNet cable connected to a USB to ethernet. When I try to connect, "Connection via VIN" is grayed out. Any suggestions?
This is the eNet cable I'm using (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BFRW6FO). Its' LED lights up when connected to OBDII port. This is USB to RJ45 cable I'm using to connect the eNet to MAC (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013G4C8RE). I also made sure: 1) The Target Connection "Main series" Window is F020 2) ENET Cable is making good contact in OBDII Port 3) The car engine is running 4) Windows 10 Firewall & Antivirus software is disabled. 5) PC Lan Adapter is set to DHCP and does not have a Static IP address assigned to it.

I'm going to see if I can get a hold of a PC in the next 2 weeks to test if it's the MAC. In the meantime, anyone with my setup can chime in to help or guide me through any hurdles they had to make it work.
ps - I disabled the laptop wireless NIC and plugged in an RJ45 directly from my network switch and obtained IP and had Internet access. So I know the (RJ45 to USB dongle) is working fine getting access to Windows 10 in Parallels 12. |

hey man, funny that I spent yesterday almost pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to connect to the car VIA parallels on my mac also. Using this cable:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I'm on windows 8.1, parallels, macOS sierra. I finally got it to work when i didn't mess with the network settings etc. All i did was plugged in the USB and specified it to connect to the VM. Windows should at least detect the ethernet connection if the drivers are reading properly and the cable is plugged in etc. (download drivers for usb/ethernet cable if necessary) (see network settings/usb settings: View post on imgur.com ) |

Yep, I have the exact same setup, except I have Windows 10. The settings for network and USB are exactly how you described. The only thing is that E-sys doesn't connect. If I connect the cable directly to my network switch and disable wireless, I get an IP and internet from my network through the cable connection in Windows.
So I don't know what else I can do? |
