Drives side window switch problem / question..
A little backstory...
Thanks to all the snow we've gotten here in NY, my drivers side window switches got wet, and no longer work. Previously, if they got wet from rain or something, in a day or so they'd work again. This time not so much; been about a week now. Not a huge deal if the window was stuck up, but of course, it's stuck down. I ordered a new window switch.. once it came I realized it's the wrong switch. It's for a 135i and all, but doesn't have the button to fold in the mirrors.. Everything else is the same... I plug it in and this switch doesn't work either. The window/regulator DOES WORK - BMW was able to raise it for me with their "computer" (until I messed with the switch and it zapped closed then broke again.. of course).. And now the question.. Does anyone know if this wrong switch will not work with my car because it has memory / extra button.. OR is there just more damage than the switch?.. I'm not sure if it's worth re-ordering another (correct) switch or moving deeper into this issue... They're not cheap! ...and for the record BMW wanted $650 to replace the switch, which they couldn't guarantee would fix the problem.. and charge more for further findings. I've also tried a few things I found on the forums; unplug mirrior, battery, window resets etc.. Thanks for reading! |

An interesting conundrum you're in, I must say...
I, relatively recently, had my passenger window slip down in the middle of the night during a BIG rainstorm. It dorked-up the seat electronics and threw a ton of airbag codes, but fixed itself after leaving the seat in front of a heater for many hours. You may want to check and see of your door is damp on the inside, which could be a cause...
