Clutch rattle at 3000rpm
This is my first post, I’ve read a lot on here which has been super helpful.
My car just started making a knocking/rattle that is very noticeable, comes on at about 3000rpm but goes away immediately. If I hold the rpms, I can hold the rattle. I finally narrowed it down to the clutch area. (Stock 6spd MT) if I’m sitting in a parking lot.. let’s say.. in neutral and rev with clutch depressed (to the 3k mark) no rattle/knocking. If the clutch is out (especially while driving) the noise is pretty loud. (Again holding rpms about 3k) I thought it was my engine which got my heart rate going.. but I cannot seem to find info of anyone with the similar problem. It’s not wastegate rattle. Clutch could be and is likely stock. 114k miles I’ve owned since 104k miles (18 months now) I do have the normal dual mass flywheel clicks/taps if you rev in neutral with clutch out to about 1500rpm and let it drop to idle.. Clutch doesn’t slip, very very slight vibration upon deacceleration between 70-100+ but could be due to tire balance needing checked. Shifts and pulls fine. What could this rattle/knocking be? |
