Speed limit information seen on dash/head up display

it is sorted. this is on a 01/2016 build M4. if interested speak to BMW GROUP AUSTRALIA Genius. It is a fantastic addition to the driving experience. having been told not available on this build car by several service advisers. the Genius contacted Munich and then had the feedback from the Technical Dept. works 99% of the time despite having the Kaffa camera.

Did you need to have any additional hardware fitted or cost you any $ to get it working?
I was also told it wasn't possible on my car due to it being an early 2016 build.

if it's do'able, shouldn't be long before the 'coders' can do it remotely i'd imagine

where does it appear, in the hud or on the dash

i've driven a latest audi with it in the hud, and it was really annoying having this big red circle in my foreground vision

My son just took delivery of a M140i LCI and it has it in the Centre of the gauge cluster, handy I reckon.

Nice I have it on the X1 and it is on both the central speedo cluster and the HUD. Would be good to retrofit into the M3. Was there costs involved? Cheers

no hardware additions.
BMW NSW didn't know it could be done, as apparently it"couldn't" be done on my older model.
as i mention, this excellent Genius took it up with Germany and said they would try with no guarantees.
i think mine was an experiment. there is a charge for the code to be released, and the coders may need that as VIN specific (i think).
took all day on the hookup to melbourne.
appears on the left of the tacho for the M headup display.
not annoying but so helpful with the fluctuations in speed limits.
again, ring melbourne not your local service advisor.

Which dealer in Melbourne? Or can you share (PM if you like) contact details?

deal with BMW australia in melbourne and their genius(i). not a dealership.
sylvania last year quoted >$1500, needed the car for a week. the service adviser was a joke. i then rang the GM for that dealership, lovely helpful guy, who rang back later that day, saying that after 50 phone calls it couldn't be done on my model M4.
so.... deal with BMW australia, not the dealerships.

To be fair initially they had no clue but now it's a streamlined process. Order the code from BMW and one day job.

They would have contacted BMW and were likely told it wasn't possible - by BMW. I suspect BMW then changed their tune.

I had mine coded remotely in 20 mins. That's another option.

Caring about maintaining speed limits in a M3/4 - please hand back your man card. Go for a drive in your wife's X5 s-drive 2 litre diesel - just as fast.

Garage List
Who does it remotely and for how much? I assume it can be done on my 2016 F31. I drove a 2017 and the speed limit info was handy and a nice touch but not sure if it is worth $350.

Contact ShawnSheridan on the forum. He will PM you details.

It's a good safety feature as you can focus more attention on the road.

It's handy in built up areas where if you don't watch it - especially during double demerits it's not hard to loose your license.

No license means no usable M car.

i would like to thank mynameisplayer for his useful comment. i am sure he has a full swag of points driving his grandmother's kia. but of course he would know more than all the manufacturer's that now have the product. so mr mynameisplayer how many points do you have? that might be a reflection of how you drive?

Definitely, my only concern is if the speed limit info replaces the digital speed display on the dash, i don't have HUD and the analog dials on the M2 can be difficult to read in certain light.
