M3 Pure Edition? Advice.

Hey guys,

I am looking at picking up an M3 Pure edition. Cost does come into the decision. The audio and wheel size does not bother me. Has anyone had any issues the the cloth seating or have any advice/warnings about the Pure Edition cars? TIA.

Maybe an Australian special edition or name of a package?

yes and no. its a stripper comp spec edition. comes with the updated power and black tip sports exhaust . misses out on comp 666 wheels , hk audio , heated seats , adaptive leds and full leather. Depends on your priorities and how much your saving over a comp pack.

Not sure how the cloth wears, but I do like the look of it.

See what price you can get on a full comp pack as there may be dealer incentives that will bring them closer in price than you think.

For me, the updated LCI2 lights convinced me to get the comp pack, as I was optioning the dark 666 anyway.

Just get a Competition Pack. Bargain properly and don't get any options (NONE!). The full leather brings the povo 3 series interior up a bit, you get the 20s, adaptive LEDs, blacked out bits, good (well, for a 3 - HK in the X5 thumps it) audio. If you want more grunt - get a tune. Kiss your warranty goodbye but you'll get to 500WHP easy. Get the DCT unless you say "y'all" a lot. The car is that fast that you will want the benefit of hanging onto the wheel more than rowing the boat "like a real driver". Get some race pads, find some 513M wheels and get some R spec tyres, do the M day, take yours to a track - enjoy the drivers car! Can't afford it now? Get a E92, supercharge it, get an exhaust!

I kind of think that the idea of a Pure Edition is marketing - they want you to think that you are buying the car as a 'drivers car' and that you don't need options.

The cloth seats look nice - I am a bit over leather and in terms of wheels, you can always go after-market.

However, HK stereo is great and so are the LED headlights

The cloth seats aren't that bad at all looks 'sporty' especially with the comp pack style cutouts.
Personally, I would miss the LCI2 headlights, but if that's not important to you the savings (~$16k I think ?) are worthwhile.

hwhile!

i don't think you would ever wear out the non-leather seats.

i don't see the advantage of buying the pure - the extra leather, tech, etc is what elevates the m3 beyond the regular 3, or even m2, when driving it 90% of the time on the daily commute

and like others have said, at end of the day when you factor in dealer offers/negotiating, you aren't really saving all that much

also on resale the market for pure is going to be much smaller than regular car, the real demand will be for comp pack cars (think how sought after e46 and e9x comp pack cars are now on used market), so sure you save in short term, but in long term it just doesn't add up to buy a low spec car on any platform
