Talking E46 M3 S65 swap updates

hey guys, few updates since I have put 4,000 miles on the swap
CSL boot lid on the way
trying out Ground Control Bump steer adjustable tie rods to offset the angle/geometry of the lower rack, should help with some tramline issues i have had
exhaust is being upgraded to 2.5" and will be retuned, hoping for 390-400 wheel
back in August put a carbon fiber intake system made here in Austin, lowered IAT by 30 celsius
rear diff R&P changed out for 3:85's out of a low miles E9x M3
cant think of much else, here are some pics of her recently

yes weighs less, but the 6 speed out of the E9x weighs more than E46 M3 6 speed because it has an trans cooler system which was retained. So it is a wash. The engine sits low and back, balance is not effected, few issues with added steering links to get around the bank 2/driver side header, but found some things that will help

I hate to be that guy that brings this up - but whats something like this cost to replicate? I can't imagine its cheap but holy hell is it awesome! I'd love me a s65 powered e46 M3.

Whats the ECU setup like?

I've had the good fortune of taking a ride in this car and it's a hoot!! Raw power and very well balanced. Even though is as close to perfection as it gets I know the owner will continue tweaking this beast to no end, well done indeed!

Motec M150, car, drivetrain, Motec, basic stuff to get car running/tuned all in about $50K other mods, like CSL roof, coil overs etc..that is extra of course. Cheaper than a new M2..

The s65 short block (no heads, cams, vanos, etc) is lighter than the s54 short block.

The s65 long block (complete engine-- includes heads/cams/vanos/etc) is ~30 lbs heavier than the s54 long block. You can verify this on realoem or any number of people who have weighted both engines, fully dressed.

It was a very tricky (to put is nicely) word manipulation by BMW, claiming the s65 V8 was lighter than the s54 I6 :P

That said, being 2 cylinders shorter, I wouldn't expect the weight distribution to be meaningfully changed.

I figured there was some trickery with the words... makes sense.

I still think that's very impressive: a larger, higher displacement engine with more sophisticated valvetrain + components is only 30 pounds heavier than the one it replaces.

It is, but a large part of that is also that a V block is inherently a more compact form than an inline block.

That, and the S54 block being made of iron
