Heated steering wheel button '13 M3 coupe
Guys-
I've had plenty of Bimmers! Plenty! My 2013 M3 coupe has the cold weather package yet the button is not on the side of the steering column. Am I missing something?? |

No M3's got heated steering wheels. Was't an option.

Which is really unfortunate. Screw heated seats. My ass can warm itself. But a heated steering wheel? That is damned nice.

I agree, a steering wheel warmer is amazing, would love to have one on my car. However I still cant believe we dont have a backup camera. Boggles my mind.

Only thing I looked forward to when they gave me 328 loaners. It really is a game changer. Like others said, wasn't even an option in the e9x M3's...

At first I thought take it or leave it, but then I used it and my world has changed. It's possible to retrofit E89 wheels with heating to M3's I'm sure. I'd say that wheel is just as lovely as the M3's. |

This is is an option i wish existed in our m3s. I drove a current gen ctsv and the heated wheel was amazing. I used to think it was frivolous option, but have since changed my mind.

Technically you can retrofit it very easily, you just need to deal with the crappier non-M heated leather sport steering wheel instead. I suppose one could swap steering wheels every Spring/Fall, lol. It's a fairly quick procedure. I'll be putting the M-Sport wheel on the 328i once its warmer, and swap back to the heated one in the Fall.

I didn’t really care about heated steering wheels until it dipped into the teens around here. It would be a welcome feature right now for sure. I do have some awesome knitted gloves with leather along the underside of the fingers though, I suppose I could try using those. |

I always wondered this as well... Like the steering wheel is so thick too, I'm pretty sure the heat element could have fit in there somewhere....

After reading through some old threads back in 2009 and 2010 it appears that those old timers had the same questions and came up with some pretty good answers. The M3 is still a 3 series and the wheel pretty much is also although there is more padding than a basic 3 series. Engineers may have decided to keep costs down and not fully change the design of the wheel. Same with HUD that the M3 did not get. Apparently the 5 series has a heated wheel so the M5 got it also. Some pretty funny arguments on the topic back then about added weight to the M3. Members complaining that the M3 is already too heavy so why add a heated wheel and the additional weight that it would add. If it were an "option" then there is only added weight if the person purchasing the car wanted to order it so it would not be weight added per say to all M3's.

It's doable , bmw made heated steering wheels for e90 chassis. Take the steering wheel apart redo the padding and have to do some wiring. People have done it on non m3's |
