Melbourne window tinting
Just got my M3. Jesus I need the windows tinted it gets hot!
So I’m based in Melbourne, what’s the best tint, who’s bloody good at it, and what does it cost? Don’t want to leave the m’s to a knob jocky |

If so I wouldn't tint. They always eventually bubble and lift regardless of who does it. Get a good oem sun visor for the front screen. If it's a lease car then it matters less. |

If you spend $2 on tint and DIY it then yes. Go for the Purple, I think it suits you. Brand name tint will offer a huge warranty. NEVER had any issues with ANY car ever. Tint A Car has done the last 10-15 cars of mine (had a E70 LCI for almost 5 yr, no issue - Black car in 40 deg climate).

All my cars tinted by chains have bubbled. My experience is the exact opposite. Again hard to argue with the delivery of opinion from the "player" |

"Doktor" (if that's how I should spell it by being childish), if you've had a bad experience then by all means share it. Why call me down because I've had not any issue over 15 cars over 25 years?

Your post "Go for the purple I think it suits you"? Here's my opinion in simple terms 1. Tinting has a negligible effect on car temps 2. If done poorly it will bubble. A chain doesn't make Jack difference. In extreme temps like we have had in Sydney overtime it may bubble. 3. Car colour matters much more regarding interior temps. It may have some use if one wants to tint above legal and rev their catless exhaust up and down lygon street and feel really important. Invest in a good oem front shade. That's the best way to reduce temps and protect the dash at the same time. |

I suppose the relevant question is this. If it does bubble then it’s just a matter of removing right?
And warranty of course. I had a work car that was tinted aftermarket and I didn’t even know. It was MUCH cooler than the m’s. Having said that it was white like the m’s but the black carbon fibre roof kills any benefit of the car being white. |

Having had a sapphire black and now a mineral white I can tell you colour makes a difference on a average day.. not so much with the temps we have had in sydney lately.

I park my car in 43 degree heat in Penrith in full sun. Inside the car heats up to over 50 degrees.
Honestly with the legal tint restrictions there is little impact on heat. The BMW oem hard shade is awesome - not only does it protect the soft leather dash but the car is massively cooler when you first get in. In addition put up the rear shades and it's all you need. |

I bought This hard cover for my windshield. Fits perfect and I throw it in the back seat when not In use. Also do an auto car ventilation with connected drive on my phone half an hour before I finish work which reduces the heat as well. |

also guys i'm after tinting for a couple of reasons. radiant heat from windows while driving which tinting makes a massive difference to, having owned a tinted white car for 3 years vs the m3 with no tinting.
Further to that there's also an aesthetic appeal with a white car with black wheels and tinted windows. happy to discuss the pros and cons and absolutely interested in the sun shade but having trouble finding it online? it musnt be specifically for the an m3 f80? |

The purple remark is in regard to every dodgy tint you've ever seen - it's always purple. Sorry you've had bad experiences - I've not had a single one. My company Hiaces, Navaras, Transporters live in the sun all year round - no probs. My personal cars (inc the X5 almost had 5 yr), no prob. It was black. Tint darker than legal doesn't keep it any cooler - had 2 Hiaces, 1 with, 1 without - no difference. Tint won't help a stationary car, shade will. I'm sure it's the same guy that has done my stuff the last 15 or so cars. |

Misunderstanding. I guess what I'm saying is with the M3 - I keep the rear blinds up and use the sunshade and it keeps the car good. Given my bad experience with tinting including one car that was done once, redone under warranty and now bubbling again I'll avoid on the M3. |
