What the hell hit my roof?

Let's play: guess what hit my roof...

I was driving up a hill tonight and a Jeep was coming the opposite direction. There was also a C-17 up in the air just above me at the same time. Just before we pass each other I hear a loud thud on my roof. I wish I had taken a photo before I started cleaning it up, but I didn't realize how odd the substance was until most of it was gone. Whatever it was, it made an indentation into the roof and down to the fibers, and left a large splatter of hard white particles within a mucus-like substance. This ain't no egg - no egg doesn't leave behind evidence of yolk and makes a damaging impact like that! Any guesses?

Am I suggesting something fell out of the C-17 and landed on me? Maybe To be fair, it did look like the Jeep's windows were up cause I never saw an arm out their window.

Sometimes I want to do a carbon roof on my e90 and then these threads pop up and change my mind.

What did I expect posting to a forum like this :

I have access to an FTIR so I'll be confirming the chemical makeup of those white bits soon. Everything points to an egg though, either thrown from the Jeep or shat from the Air Force.

As for the damage, does it need to be sealed? I've seen other posts where chips allowed yellowing of the resin underneath the top coat.

It would take quite a bird to drop a load big enough to dent a roof like that. Maybe a pterodactyl?

I got my scan done and the major peaks are consistent with calcium carbonate, the primary compound in egg shells.

CASE CLOSED.
