Looks like Santa came early this year...

Finally bought a lift. Can't wait to install it. My E39 530i DD needs a complete suspension rebuild (got shimmy?), the wife's oil pan gasket is shot, and of course rod bearings on the M.

What does something like that cost and what does install entail? Have always considered a lift...

1,100-3,500 USD depending on brand and lift type (ramps or arms) and you anchor it in the ground with wedge anchors. So if you have a post tension garage pay someone to X-ray first before just drilling in anchors. Not hard at all if you have a hammer drill. I envy you OP! I am planning on the same for my garage.

Very cool. With the garage door closed, how high up do you think you'll be able to get the car into the air? I wanted to do this in my last house, but to make it worthwhile I would have needed to knock out the ceiling and keep it open (eliminate the attic above) and get a new opener since it was smack dab in the middle of the garage.

It's around $2500. The minimum requirement is a 4" concrete with 3000 psi strength. If the concrete is not up to par you need to cut 2 4x4 ft sections and repour. Like somebody else said you just anchor the posts down and hook up the hydraulic hoses and you're done.

No, it's a Triumph C-7000. Max lift height on MaxJax is 45", C-7000 is 72". Also, C-7000 has auto locking feature which engages every 4".

According to my rough estimate ~58" (I have 125" ceiling), the lift goes up to 72". Yep, I had to remove my old garage door opener, that would have been in the way, and replaced it with a liftmaster. I plan to convert the garage door to a high lift system so I can leave it open when it's nice outside.

I was looking into side lift systems (if that's what they're called) so that no opener was within inner reach of the door rails. The system I looked at required two lifts because of the weight of my door (one at each rail).

But I'm right with you on a high lift door. Even after doing all of the other work with knocking out a ceiling and changing out openers, what happens with the other half of the year and I have my garage door closed when it's 70 degrees outside and the dog wants to run around? This is why the next house will have a DEDICATED (separate) garage. High doors, two post lift, motorcycle lift, oh my!

Let us know how it works out. You have great height. I'm 114" and have been doing so much research to try and stack 2 cars but it's tight fit. Would you feel comfortable parking a car under this lift since it has the automatic locking mechanism?

With 58" lift you can fit another m3 under there

So very jealous. My garage is a bit too short to fit one, otherwise I would have ordered too.

Yes, especially since I will have to do the rod bearings (thanks to your DIY )

I hear you, a separate garage with 14' ceilings will be the first requirement if we ever decide to buy another house.

Definitely! I think I would feel comfortable parking a car under the lift because of the auto locking mechanism. I might try it.

Now that you mentioned stacking 2 cars I might have to revive my dreams of owning the E46 M3 The boss lady is not going to like this.
