Active autowerkes midipe
ive Been looking at the active autowerkes midpipe. Got a few questions like can this be purchased in Melbourne? Is it legal in Aus? How does it compare with MPE for m3 zcp?

Has anyone had warranty issues with an aftermarket midpipe?

If you ask 10 people you will get a large diversity of responses regarding exhausts. Go with what you think best.
I put the complete akropovich on mine and it sounds great. BMW installed it at my break in service and have put my stock exhaust in storage. When it comes to the warranty you will void the exhaust component naturally. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule in my opinion. |

i'd be inclined to favor midpipe if it was a bolt on part, but cutting into oe exhaust seems excessive and not easily reversible on resale on a new car
i've always said the mpe on this engine is as good as it's going to sound, there comes a time when you just have to admit the s55 isn't the most satisfying purist sound, but the mpe + zcp does give it character which is enough to still have fun going up and down gears in the hills yes akra is better quality and arguably some other brands too, but the mpe purchased and fitted by your local dealer has warranty, and thus resale/trade in appeal that no aftermarket part can offer Last edited by domino_z; 10-01-2017 at 08:06 PM.. |

I think they produce different sounds, watch with headphones and give me your thoughts
AA midpipe on ZCP stock exhaust - I really love this sound. Deeper and breathing more freely MPE on ZCP - hmmmmmmmmmm which one? |

agree it is a different sound, the AA mid, or any x pipe, removes the rasp
i went with the mpe on my zcp because i actually like the rasp, for me as a former e46 m3 owner, it's a characteristic of this car |

They’re also having a sale on them, the AA midpipe I mean. If anyone is interested let me know we might be able to get cheaper shipping which isn’t insignificant.

Active midpipe won't cause a cel as there are no sensors from secondary cat back
The oe system is primary cats -> secondary cats -> resonator -> muffler The mpe deletes the resonator only, Active deletes the secondary cats Whether you pass the sniffer test without the secondary cats is a guess until someone actually tries it, or has to go through the epa test process |
