ASD - I would like to turn it off.

I have the car for only 2 days and I don't like the way it sounds. The sounds like it comes out of the audio system front speakers , and it is fake, and bit too loud. It sounds like it interferes with the music from the sounds system.

I know that there are apps for iOS or software for laptops, but I don't have an iPhone and the learning curve for the coding software is too steep for a one feature coding. I also am not interested in disconnecting the ASD hardware module.

Is there someone here who has the iPhone app or the laptop system who could do the coding for me? I live in the Bay Area Norcal.
I will pay for your time, and even buy the dongle if needed.

Thanks!

Carly and Bimmercode work on both Android and IOS.

E-sys works on Windows (natively or through virtualization).

Disconnect the cable is the best way, why you are not interested? LOL.

Thanks! Can you recommend either Carly or Bimmercode?

Bimmercode supports well many features on Fxx. I’d go w it, and the dev responds in a timely fashion.

In my experience the only way to completely turn it off is to unplug it. It only takes about 15-20 min and is the best mod you can do.

What is it that leads you to believe that coding it off does not completely turn it off?

I did some reading about coding ASD off, and If I understand it correctly, there's a setting for "ASD Off" and there's a setting to fool the ASD to think it is installed in an different model car and it will not produce any sound. Am I close?

I bought a module (cant remember what it was) that connected to an app which let you control things like exhaust flaps etc. One of the things was "turning ASD off". While it did seem to turn it off, in reality it only turned it down, and for me the only way to really feel like it was off was to unplug it YMMV.

Since the unplug is free, easy and definite I really dont see a reason to do it any other way.

If you Code any but the expected settings, it turns off.

It’s possible not knowing what the app is doing... however another definite free alternative is to code it off yourself using Esys.

After reading through several coding threads on this topic, it seems that if you code it correctly, you can turn off ASD entirely. I just did this recently using the Bimmercode app. I also verified the coding I did with Bimmercode using my laptop/e-sys and it matched the current coding info in the forums for turning off ASD. I have never unplugged the module (and don't intend to) so I personally can't confirm if physically disconnecting the module is better than coding. But there seems to be enough info currently available that supports completely disabling ASD via coding.

One other disadvantage of unplugging the module to keep in mind is that if the dealer ever updates the software in your car, the update may not work properly as the dealer computer updating the car will detect a missing module which may affect the update process. Just need to remember to plug the ASD module back in again I guess....

I did the exrecise last weekend. My ASD has been unplugged for the last 3 years (since I got the car back from ED). I had unplugged it then since I was not familiar with nor equipped for coding so it was the simplest way for me to kill that anoying feature. Since I have an appointment at the dealer that might necessicate some re-programming, I replugged the ASD module and then coded ASD off (using the proper and complete method) and I could not hear any difference between unpluging and coding.

What app/software did you use for the coding?
