Got an S6 after cross shopping the M3/M4

Welp, I took delivery of an Audi S6 today. I was really torn for quite awhile, but I could get a pretty nice S6 for a better price than an M3/4, plus I'm still needing a family hauler for a bit. It just didn't work out this time, but I'm pretty sure I made the right choice.

Come next purchase, I'll be down to one middle school kid, so a coupe would be an easier choice.

I really appreciate everyone's advice so far, and I'm sure I'll come around from time to time. Keep the rubber side down and enjoy!

CPO '14 was just over 46k.

Estoril blue with black leather diamond interior and black optics package, LED headlights and most options except heads-up display and night vision. The only thing I wish it had is the layered aluminum/black wood interior trim instead of carbon.

M3 is a perfectly good family hauler? Much more engaging than an s6, 10x more nimble and much faster? Not sure why u felt the need for this post? Enjoy ur Audi in good health

It was the best overall decision for HIM.

OP said he got it for $46k, not buying an M3 worth getting for that price.

S6 is a damn nice car. Can be easily modded and already make a ton of HP. Combined with AWD....great DD. Congrats!

It's not like I'm the first nor the last to come to this conclusion. Neither car was perfect in my eyes, and it's pretty obvious that they aren't exactly direct competitors. Hell ya the F8x is more nimble and faster in some cases, but the S6 was just a bit more of what I'm looking for, and at a lower price.

you don't want pics now. It's a dirty, dirty girl and it's raining tomorrow. Maybe I'll take one anyway but this old boat needs a good scrubbin, and it'll be tomorrow night or Wed before I can apply grease of the elbow.

Nice bro. Thinking you meant Sepang Blue right? Estoril Blue is a BMW blue. Post some pics!

Indeed. Estoril Blue Crystal Effect is the locquacious name of the color of my car. It was last offered in '14 and then switched to Sepang Blue. EBCE is a little darker, almost like a metallic navy. They also had a Nogaro Blue.

I remember this pic from Audizine. I previously had an A6 and S4.

Congrats on the S6! I went the opposite way, as the S6 was a bit too large and unengaging for me.

I do miss the air suspension at times, though...

He posted it because he had been looking for an M3/M4, asked others on the forum for information, even prospected on the forums for used F80/2 and this ended up being his final decision. What's the big deal?

You flame and then close out with enjoy in good health. C'mon.

Best of luck with the car OP. S6 is a sweet ride.

No flaming at all, was challenging his logic.. that's all. I could really care what the op purchased... just don't get his logic. An s6 and an m3 are very very different cars.

Congrats on the new ride OP. I cross shopped a Cpo S6 before buying the M myself when I was also debating going with a f10 550. I thought my boy racer days were behind me with two kids and was really thinking primarily comfort over speed and hooliganism. However the youngest said he didn't want to ride in what he called an "old mans" car (to be clear he felt that about the S6 and 550) so I got another M.

Congrats OP. I actually went to an Audi dealership to check out what they had for fun and this was already after I ordered my M3. The sales guy had asked me if I'm looking for anything and I told him no just looking around and I had mentioned to him about my M3. He then offered to take me for a test drive in a brand new S6 and he even let me drive it. He said his intention was to possibly make me switch to Audi haha. Car was definitely quick and comfortable, but I still chose the M.
