VLD only half working?

It is suggested in the below thread, that Variable Light Distribution can be enabled via only doing standard FDL coding, without having to remove 8S4 from the VO.

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1079362&page=2

I followed those instructions on my F82 (2016) (with 522 Xenon, 524 Adaptive Headlights) and the driver's side light IS moving right to left when I start going faster, just like in the posted videos. However, on my previous F30 (2015 335i), I did the full VO coding to remove 8S4 and 5AP and not only did the driver's side move right to left, but they both moved up and down significantly. There was a clear beam cut off very close to me in the road in front of me. When I'd get up to speed, both lights would move up vertically, as well as pivoting horizontally into a pointed beam.

Is it possible that doing only the FDL coding in the above thread is preventing the full VLD functionality? Might we need to completely remove the 8S4 DECODING VARIABLE LIGHT DISTRIBUTION from the VO (like I did in my F30) to get the full functionality with my F82 too?

If done correctly, it would be the same thing.

It's coded as stated in the above thread. It's functioning as depicted in the YouTube video linked in that thread by the same person who states that VLD could be activated without changing the VO. However, it's not the same as when I did it in my F30 via VO. In his video, the "slow" mode for the lights barely points down. On my F30, they went further down and put a beam cutoff in the road in front of me. I could always just try to change the VO like before, but I just hate losing all my customizations already.

Maybe aboulfad has updates or more insight into his findings.

Create CAF's and compare with tool. You will see VO coding and FDL coding will result in the same changes.

Thanks aboulfad that's what I was referencing. It seems that the F80's VLD function is different than the F30 I guess?

Or perhaps removing 8S4A from an F30 changes more things. I never looked into what it did, and I don't have the car anymore. I'm guessing there are parameters dictating the angles you mentioned,"The left headlight is moved approx. 12° to the left and approx. 0.7° downwards." On my F30, they definitely moved more than 0.7 down.
