Another Alfa vs BMW test

These guys are actually quite good reviewers - haven't seen much from them lately, but I remember some really good full length comparison videos with r35 vs evo x, and evo vs sti vs focus rs vs golf r which are worth searching for

Also looks like they have been working on a full generation of m3 video

They did a good job filming the cars in motion and also captured the sound well.

great review.. very unbiased and thorough.
I totally agree with the feedback on the steering feel on the m3. you're using it to turn the front of the car and not the entire car.

These guys are great. One glaring omission, however, is talk of transmission offerings.

I say that because if you don't want the 6MT and are willing to ignore reliability concerns, the Alfa is definitely worth considering. But to me, those two kill the Alfa.

Add to that the dealer network, the higher price, and lack of Euro delivery (which I love) and it doesn't work for me. But I am optimistic that years down the road I could own the next gen Giulia QV.

I test drove the Alfa and liked a lot this car. Sure it is nice to drive and it is a beautiful machine. I ended with a second F80 because I had a better deal and the M3 is more luxury and has better ergonomy than the Alfa ( instant feeling ). Plus I know I wouldnt be disappointed with ZCP... maybe the Alfa is a bit too expensive.
BTW this is a fair review!

Thanks for posting this.

I love the "Let's hope the reliability is there", at the end with regard to the Alfa

I think in a couple years, alfa will get rid of the reliability issues. They plunged into this crowded market and did everything they could to deliver a bang with this car in a short timeframe. (concept to production)

Let's hope however poor sales don't cancel this platform.

Nice video, pretty much in line with others...depends what you want. Those who appreciate BMW's approach of "smashing" roads rather than "rotating" on them will probably continue to like the F8X better.

As for the Alfa, which I am impressed with based on reviews (still have not had a chance to drive one, which is not likely to happen in Tucson!):

Dynamics: +1
Reliability: 0 (or -1?)
Lack of MT: Non-starter

When a MT becomes not available on any new performance sedan (soon, I'm sure), the playing field will finally be level for me. Of course, at that point, I may just revel in my old MT cars for fun drives and have an electric car as a DD...

Wonder what mountain roads they are driving on. Look unnaturally empty.

They mention the QF's brakes as did Motortrend in their video piece "QF vs. everything"

Motortrend said it would make the car a pain to drive round town and they say similar things, it seems a small foot note to the reviews but I can imagine that would get old really quickly.
