M3 to Maserati GranTurismo
Well after a long search I have made the move to a Maserati Granturismo. I really enjoyed everything about the M3 but decided I wanted something a bit more exotic for the next ride. Hopefully in three years the next version of the M3 will be out and I can look at a potential return. A few picks below of the car I am leaving and the new car. Also, I will be listing my M Performance Exhaust for sale shortly (7 months old).

Sorry for your loss. As long as the new one makes you happy, to each his own.

Why didn't you opt for the MC version? It is an interesting change, that's for sure. Can't say I blame you though, I was considering a MC model myself and almost bought one. Glad I didn't in the end though lol.

Wow, I didn't know there was so much hate towards the Granturismo. It's an aging car that doesn't perform as well as the M3, but it's very beautiful and the exhaust note is superb. Did you lease it? I wouldn't keep it for more than a few years, since they aren't really reliable. Quite stunning though!

Actually I got a three year, 12k/yr lease for a little less than it would have cost me to get an M4 (Maserati is offering crazy incentives to move them). Plus I got a higher trade in value than BMW dealerships were offering.
It is a throw back car. It is way behind technologically and it definitely isn't a track car. But after test driving 911's, M4's, and the LC500 this was the one I kept coming back to (also for a coupe it fits my three boys the best). There is absolutely something magical about driving this car. My kids think it is insanely cool (can't put a value on that). From a looks and sound standpoint this car is getting more interest from people than any of my recent past cars. I am very lucky to have had in reverse chronological order: F80 M3, RS5, S5, RS4, 997 911S, E46 M3, AMG CLK55. E36 M3. Only real disaster on the list was the AMG, took a bath on it hence comment below on leasing the GT. I am more into the experience of owning different cars and I will enjoy my 3 years (leased because of the horrible depreciation on these things - first time I am leasing in close to 30 years) in it and then move on to something different. |

That must have been a serious discount off MSRP and extreme support on back-end residual to make the lease competitive with BMW. Enjoy the car during the lease term. Looks nice and I'm sure it sounds great. I'm also pretty sure it performs well enough for daily driving on the streets.

Less than an M4? That's a smokin deal!
You might be a fanboy if you think the M3 looks more exotic than this. Congrats OP!

Congrats on the switch. My neighbor has the same car and the exhaust sound is intoxicating. It may not have the performance of the M3 but it definitely has the exotic look and sound the M3 is lacking.

Sorry bud, that car is a nightmare to live with. Both from a maintenance and depreciation perspective. Performance isn't close to what the M offers either. But a lot of people don't know a ton about that car, so if you're trying to look cool now you get to say "I drive a Maserati". So I guess that's the silver lining in this? But hey, you've got to do what makes you happy.
