Sold GTR and got M3 ZCP
So, I sold my GT-R and wanted something with 4 doors that would move. I ended up working out a deal in So Cal for a 17 ZCP Alpine White F80 with DCT and all the carbon fiber goodies (splitter, mirrors, roof, spoiler, diffuser).

It's going to be hard to follow the break in because the car is too fast.

I haven't driven a GT-R, but from what I understand the GT-R is a very confident feeling car that tends to understeer. The F8X is a less forgiving RWD car that likes to oversteer. It can feel faster in this manner. This is why I said that you WILL spin the wheels. Even moderately aggressive acceleration can break that rear lose with stability off or on dynamic. Hell, even with it on, I've broken free for a split second.

Lol the car feels exactly "as fast" as my Porsche 997.2 Turbo S Cabriolet. It technically isn't but it still feels close enough. I think it has to do with torque/ the turbos.

You might get disappointed down the road with I6 turbo engine sound. No matter what exhaust you have, it won't sound as good as GTR. (GTR is so much better I have had M4 for 2 years and the only thing I don't like about M4 is its exhaust sound--even with MPE (nice tone but not deep and loud).

It is the following in comparison:
More Technically Advanced (in the cabin) Slower Quieter More Comfortable More Fuel Efficient Less of a Penis Magnet This car however is more trouble than the GT-R. The GT-R was much easier to drive in the turns, and given its a higher HP car was much easier to control. The M3 is so quiet that its easy to drive insanely fast without knowing it. The GT-R was so loud and had so much more road noise that you knew how fast you were going just by listening.

I love it. Much better than my Lexus and GT-R.

I am surprised you got a deal from socal and dealerships. When I was getting mine, they were all pretty firm with the price or insist wanted $2k over invoice. I end up got it from out of state at better price.

The problem is that I live in Las Vegas and the only 2 BMW dealers we have are owned by the same group so they have no need to compete. At least that was my experience.

I was contemplating going to a GTR from my M3 but I am not so sure if it's the right choice.

Do you plan on modding it? Coming from a fbo gtr to a stock m3 is a big decrease in power, luckily there are a few flash tunes out right now that give this car a huge bump in horsepower (100whp+) from a tune only. I recommend to you if you do plan on modding to buy a set of sticky tires r888s are what most people go with.
Congrats on the purchase you will love it. |

Maybe, but road, engine, and transmission noise would still be awful.

thought about getting one before but never did. I usually don't mind road/engine noise. never had a ride in one so can't say. thought AWD would be awesome here in Chicago area ...

The AWD system in the GT-R is fantastic. I loved the car, but needed a better DD.

Congrats! I had a F80 about a year ago, sold it to get a GT-R and now I just got back into a F80.
