Any thoughts on the new Lexus LC500?
Like the thread title says
Some articles I read make it sound like a nice sports car with good steering feel to boot! http://www.caranddriver.com/lexus/lc

Forgot where but someone did a review on it in Hawaii and it was pretty positive. The exhaust note was amazing. Also read theres going to be an F version coming out which is not surprising. Only down side is the headlight droop looks like its crying from certain angles, like the new caddy.

If I was looking for a cruiser coupe I'd probably spend a little extra and get an AMG GT S.
Never been a fan of the current generation Lexus design language. |

I had intended to pick up one of these or the F version, at one time LC-LF was proposed as the name, as a daily driver, but I totaled my daily on December 9 and before these hit the market so I went with the M3 3 months ago as I needed a DD with a back seat then, not later.
Got a ride in an early test mule sent out on the road here in the states. I personally liked the looks and the interior. The F version is supposed to have forced induction and over 600 hp. I still kind of want one for the very unique and novel looks. Lexus, Tesla and etc. are actually taking us into the direction of future sleek designs and Lexus quality is still second to none. I think Lexus should go back to building style-neutral cars. Not a fan of the styling at all. Also, it is unclear where this car fits market segment-wise. I just don't really see a reason to consider buying or leasing one, personally.

Lacks torque down low for such a big heavy car. Needs a TTV8 like the competition, for that effortless daily driving. Old farts driving this car will not be revving out this recycled V8 to get in the meat of the powerband.

Toyota definitely uses their engines in too many platforms. I mean how many vehicles does the 3.5 go in? Conversely how many have this V8. Hate to embrace turbos but they desperately need to invest in the future.

Article says 4300lb. That's e class wagon weight. Not really my cup of tea and if I wanted a heavy 2 door commuter car a fully depreciated Continental GT would be interesting, as would an m6

It will sound great, have great build quality and in isolation be a great drive. But once you put it next to something in its class you will find its faulty, and doesn't perform as good as its rivals. But for a fair chunk of people that doesn't matter so it should sell. But I will say the design is different and I like it in pictures, but long term IDK. Like have a hot wife then looking at the mother in law and thinking, what happened? |

I had hoped Lexus would make this car a pure electric car. (P100D range and acceleration with a pretty coupe shape) That would be an amazing halo car, and it would put then ahead of the curve on performance (under the presumption that at some point, all new cars will become electric)
