Top Gear Giulia vs M3
Got a little worried until I see it only beat the M3 by .2, with a non-ZCP. I would love to have seen the ZCP comparison. I have to assume the Competition Package would have at least tied it; if not beaten it. But.... it does look like a fun car none the less.

ZCP is slower than normal M4. See the instrumented Car and Driver write up below.
Also this topic has been discussed for some time now......just saying. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...package-review

Honestly though, these two cars are almost identical in all performance metrics. People in general put way too much stock into car reviews. The better driver will win every race when it comes to these two cars, that's all that matters. Still think it looks so funny on paper that the M3 is listed to have 425 HP but magically keeping up with 500 + HP cars. Can't they just say it has 480 HP, we all know it does. |

I just watched this too... m3 looks better in my opinion and we are talking a difference of .2 seconds... how many people really would be able to tell which is better with average driving skills.. I doubt most use the performance to full potential so then it comes down to styling and personal choice.. I think Alfa has more exclusiveness as you won't see a ton of them around like BMW cars... but I still will get the m3

I'm an alfa fan and ex-owner going back decades. I love the Quadrifoglio. Had a deposit down with dealer. Had ZERO intention of cross-shopping it with anything. I wanted it. PERIOD. Spent hours test driving. What's in my driveway now?
Despite the emotional attraction, at the end of the day the car just fell short for me personally and there was no way for me to get past that. I wanted a stick, but was willing to entertain the 8-speed. I found the electronic brakes difficult to get used to. As good as the steering feel and response was, the brakes were the opposite. As much fun as the engine was and how amazing the 8-speed was (best implementation I've ever driven), I wanted my left leg to be busy. I wanted to be able to control the nannies, not all-On or all-Off. Heck, in the absence of the ability to mount a roofbox (has CF roof, like the F80) I needed rear seats that folded. At the end of a few hours and nearly 200 miles, I asked for my deposit back. Then I drove straight over to my local M dealer and did something i'd never even considered. Bought an M3. 6MT ZCP Thanks, Alfa. |
