ZCP 666 Wheels - Should I get wheels/Tire warranty?

For those getting the ZCP wheels with 20"s, are you guys getting Tire and Wheels warranty that's offered by BMW ranging from $1400 to $1500 for 3 or 4 years?

I previously had 19" wheels but never had any significant issues even with some shitty roads. But I've never had 20"s before so wanted to see what you guys have experienced so far.

Thanks!

I didn't get it. It's not worth it. I could get a new set of mps4 install for less than what the warranty if something happens.

What about the wheels itself?

I actually purchased tire and wheel protection with cosmetic from BMW, but from a third party called NSD. This has unlimited fixes and 0 deductible. It came out to $1900 for the 3 year lease and for me it is totally worth the money.

I did similar and have used it twice for my Non-ZCP (19" 437M Wheels). The first instance was for a curb rash from my Euro Delivery. The second instance was for a blown tire on the highway. Both times they resolved the issue with ease and I didn't have to pay any additional out of pocket expenses. I had them transfer the plan to my ZCP once it arrived. I'd recommend it for the piece of mind.

I do agree the warranty is piece of mind but unless you have really bad roads where you are or a bit careless, it's not worth it. Road rash can be repaired for 100-250 and it will look like new. If you destroy one or more of the wheel, you can get a new set of aftermarket wheels with tires for less than 3000 or better yet look for a set in the classify for around 2000.

Either way, if you love your zcp wheels and plan on keeping it, get the warranty. For me, if something happens, it gives me an excuse to get some nice aftermarket wheels. I am pretty anal about taking care of my car and out all the cars I have own, I never had to replace a wheel because I damaged it.

just my 2 cents.

Worth it if you see yourself curbing the wheels. Should you ever have tire issues, buy from Tire Rack or America's Tire Co and get the $20 road hazard warranty. Once you have that coverage once you really don't need much more.

My $.02

Does anyone ever plan to curb their wheels?

Roads are VERY different between Toronto and Southern California...

I'd be more worried about the 666m than the tires.

Better yet the repair cost for one wheel ranges from $100-$150. You could do that 10 times before this plan pays for itself.

I have never seen proper repairs to wheels lower than $225+ taxes. Yes $100-$150 I have seen, but never anything I would use.

I maxed out my insurance plan from BMW (capped at $5000) replacing my RFT tires on the 535i, with the terrible roads we have in Montreal it took me less than 2 1/2 yrs to do that. To me it's a no brainer. I have purchased the warranty for the M3 since I also have the 666M wheels.

Look who administers/underwrites the actual plan. BMW does not do this and it's always some sort of other company. Some of them are pretty good with no questions asked.

The one my dealership uses is some shit company that has a poor BBB rating and over 200+ complaints. They require pics of the incident and the object that caused it. Also a bunch of other shitty stipulations. It appeared that once you filed a complaint with the BBB you got your wheel/tire fixed but otherwise they tried to screw people and not fix anything.

Basically get the terms and conditions for the plan and research the company that provides the coverage. You'll be able to make a judgement based on that.

I got a 3rd party damage waiver thing including wheels for like 1200 from the dealer. $50 deductible, no limit on usage. Covers curb rash. I was told the BMW one may not cover curb rash, only structural damage and it was more expensive anyway.

Dont plan on using it but piece of mind i guess.

I got it for my ZCP because the BMW star tires are extremely hard to find and would rather go to the dealer for zero down time than have to scramble if I need it replaced.

With the 20's, I wanted to not worry on my lease.

In Canada the rim/tire protection plan is provided by BMW financials. Whether or not they claim to a third party is not my problem. It will cover curb rashes and NO deductible. Any BMW dealer in North America will honor the insurance claim no questions asked. Just to clarify this to everyone. First hand experience with this myself.

A proper repair requires stripping down and refinishing from base. $100-$150 isn't going to get that done correctly.

Guess that's why so many shitty sets of wheels in classifieds are described by their owners as MINT.
