I am curious to know too. BMW produced nearly 20,000 E60 M5's. I wonder if the F10 M5 will surpass that.

I just wish that when we saw a m5 that it stood out in a major way like the e60 did. And we already know that was a flaw in the f10 as well as producing too many of them.

How does the e60 stand out more than the f10?

Well the 2013 M5's were over produced, tanking their values. We will see how the 2014, 2015, and 2016 M5's were produced in far fewer numbers.

The E60 M5 didn't stand out at all for people who don't know cars. After I traded my E60 530i for my E60 M5, I had it a week before my girlfriend even noticed. I didn't tell her on purpose to see how long it would take her. And she only noticed because she "didn't remember my car being a stick shift." Both were sapphire black and the 530 had sport package.

My F10 M5 doesn't look too much different from a 535 M-sport that parks nearby at work.

I like the discrete-ness.

My thinking also. Even though I have tinted windows, not that dark, and it's slightly lowered with aftermarket rims, I bet much of the public think it's just another BMW when they look at it. I even got about the most common color, or the most bland anyway, Space Gray to blend in even more. The only M5 on the outside of the car is the small graphic on the front fender vent. I let the performance identify it when I need to.

Can tell you this for certain these were the numbers made in 2016 for 2 of the versions

391 North American M5 models (G343298 till G343688)
475 ROW RHD M5 Models (G250889 till G251363)
Need a 2016 ROW LHD Vin to determine the rest

Last customer F10 in the world was a RHD UK model http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1319802

Can you get a break down of the 2012-2015 production numbers?

Yes for people who knows the cars your right. My whole point is to me is that I wish they stood out more instead of looking so similar. Discrete yes and tail pipe copied yes. Lol.

Yea Dave they blew the value down on our '13 models.

Wolf in sheep's clothing

The whole premise behind the ///M5 is that it is descrete and does not draw attention to itself. The E60 is the only version that broke this mold. I love that fact that if you don't know cars - you don't have any idea what it is. I prefer it that way.

Would need the VIN ranges for LHD, RHD and North American cars for each year.

They jump around a bit so arnt easy to get unless you find owners of each range to give you their VIN.

I just saw today that BMW has produced around 2.2 million F1x 5-Series models. I assume this includes the F11 Wagon. That's a whole lot of cars and should be a lot more than all variants of the E60 5-Series. I am guessing that they made more F10 M5's than they made E60 M5's but I am not so sure given the low production numbers of the 2014, 2015, and 2016 model M5's. I also assume that the F06 M6 Gran Coupe took some of the production and consumer demand away from the F10 M5.

Found this: http://www.m5portal.com/forum/f10m5_modelljahr.asp

For north american LHD:
Quote:
M5 F10 LHD/US (FV93)

Årsmodell/MY/Modelljahr Chassinummerserier/VIN-series/Fahrgestellnummer-Serien

2012 C772200-C772415 + C772428-C772438 (CAN)
2013 C772416-C772427 (USA) + C772439-C774199 + D095400-D097167
2014 (LCI) D097168-D097899 +
Which if my math is correct, says:

2012 is 225 ?? (I Never see them listed anywhere though...)
2013 is 3538
2014 is at least 731 but looks like they didn't finish.

I don't think VIN # run sequentially though. I have tried to add just one digit to my VIN in the past to see what the next vehicle after mine looked like and the # came up as invalid. So they don't run 00001 00002 etc

The only standout on the the E60 M5 is that V10

Boy that thing is loud when modded.

hmm ok. Might be right. Well, if those ranges are accurate, and the VIN's aren't sequential within the broken up ranges, then it's less than the math listed above. 3500 2013's seemed a little bit high...

Canada got the 2012 M5. It only lasted a few months before the 2013 arrived.

They do run sequentially within in the ranges.
Yours may have been the last of a range or you entered something incorrectly.
