2017 Ford Raptor, thoughts??

Recently saw this truck in person. It looks much better than the pictures online. At 450HP/510 FT LBS Torque I'm feeling inclined to order one. What do you guys think?

I saw one a couple weeks ago, supercab version. Looks fantastic. Only truck I would consider spending money on.

IMHO if it doesnt have a big 6+ liter diesel engine then its not really a truck

I have a supercab on order but still on the fence on if I'll take it or not. I have no issues with the turbo 6 because I think it will be good, I just can't get as excited about the exterior...although I've only seen a preproduction crew cab in person. I had a gen 1 crew cab for 3 years and never got tired of the looks of it...just not sure I'm going to feel the same about this one. With all that said, I think the tech will be awesome overall in the gen 2.

OP, I seriously considered it, but decided to wait for year 2 at least. Only truck I would consider. Spectacular.

Guy in my neighborhood has one. Fantastic vehicle. If I needed a truck that would be it.

I've been contemplating for a few months and after seeing in person sold on it. Two issues I have is 1. Finding a dealer to sell at msrp (majority are asking for 5-15k markup which is absurd) 2. How to justify keeping both the f80 and raptor..likely would keep both since mathematically they both hold value well.

Curious to see if the old ones hold their value based on old v8 engine. It didn't happen with the M3's though.

Yea.....not really.

Any of the 6.7l diesels will pull/haul circles around it, get better mileage doing it and outlast the gasser by a wide margin.

Certainly not one of the aluminum bed fords......cant handle cargo at all without poking holes in the body/bed

Or you can spec a bed liner like 99% of trucks sold.

Most trucks have a spray in liner

That helps with scratches but not fatigue nor does it protect from use like this,,,,,which is pretty common if you actually use a truck for work

A really thick plastic liner will help with some of this but its not going to mitigate the fatigue issue that aluminum is subject to in this kind of work use

It sure seems to be marketed to be an off road vehicle almost excusively

I get that this is a concern for fleet/construction vehicles but who is going to be using their personal Raptor like this though?

I dont know anyone that would purchase one because its primarily an off road toy......

Up here a truck needs to earn its way.....probably end up seeing more of them in cities than anywhere else

Down here in Houston, trucks are considered the luxury vehicles. Most trucks are just daily drivers that are never really used to their full potential.

Not sure where "up here" is, but where I live trucks are just as common as daily commuters as they are work trucks. Sounds like your area (or just you) has a "if it's not rolling coal, it's a chick truck mentality."

Same here, most trucks won't have anything more than some beer coolers and maybe some occasional furniture in the bed.
