Apple Carplay dealer upgrade?

I ordered a 2017 M3 Competition today which will be delivered end of July. I tried to order it with Apple carplay but it's not available yet. Does anyone know if I will be able to add this on in August when it becomes available?

I'm guessing that iDrive 5.0 has CarPlay as standard equipment.

Available starting 8/16. Probably as an additional option.

I am currently ordering a Euro delivery and the production dates are close the date of beginning of Apple CarPlay support. As someone working in the app space it is must for me. They were very clear and firm in stating that if I want CarPlay support in my build it will be delayed and that it was not possible for software upgrade.

If that turns out to be the case it's going to really suck for the people (me included) who bought a 2017 with a June and July production date and can't upgrade.

I was told differently in that the required hardware will be included starting in July MY17 builds, however the apple car play software is not yet ready for integration with idrive 5.0. This is why it is delayed.

I have been told by my UK dealer that it can be software upgraded to iDrive 5.0 hardware after September (estimate). So for me, that will be done at the RIS probably October.

I just added my car to Connected Drive. Once logged in, this option appeared:

I havent tried to buy it yet since I dont have my wallet with me. 3000SEK usually means $300

I asked the same thing on other threads, but never got an answer. I picked up my car last week and the BMW Genuis told me I didn't need it with the new idrive. He said the new version did everything apply play did. I'm supposed to go back for an appointment so he can show me all of the functions.
