Roadside assistance took over 3 hours....

So today a truck right in front of me lost a about 4 ft long log on the freeway and i had no choice but to run over it (or hit the car next to me).
Big bang, runflat immediately deflated and disintegrated and I ended up limping on the rim to the side of the freeway. So much for runflats..... Called BMW roadside assistance for a tow truck at 8.15 am. The truck showed up at 11.30 am. Am I wrong or should this go a bit faster in a metropolitan area? Sitting for over three hours on the side of a freeway wasn't too much fund.
Fortunately, tire and rim where the only damage. And the local dealer had both of the in storage.

Of course not.
I was so busy trying to avoid the log and other cars, by the time I could look the truck was gone. The truck must have hit a huge pothole which we have many on I-77. Then the log fell off. Of course no excuse.
Those holes could swallow my M3 and have been there for months. The X5 at least makes it across.

3 hrs is about the norm in busy areas at busy times, they just contract with the same independent tow operators as everyone else uses, so supply and demand!

The truck driver told me that he came from Charlotte, which is 100 miles from us. He said the Bmw does not have any contract with a tow truck company in Columbia. I think three hours in completely unacceptable.

.

<sarcasm> what do you expect being in such a remote area of the world, nowhere near any BMW infrastructure </sarcasm>

(Columbia is only 90 miles from Spartanburg)

That is the norm. Mercedes is no better. I found AAA to be much faster from my experience

Same here re AAA vs BMW roadside.
Recently had a uncovered manhole destroy the front left RFT on the wifes F10 when we were 120 miles from home. AAA had a flatbed there in an hour and us home 2 hours after that. Couldn't complain about anything other than hitting the manhole in the pitch black night in the first place.
