Phone craddle

Anyone know if you can order a new X5 without the phone cradle in the center console, or have the dealer remove it prior to delivery? It's the only disappointing feature of this vehicle, not having a completely open center storage console. 2ND on my wish list is the option from the factory for sunroof delete for US delivery. Sunroofs are a problem-prone feature of no use to those of us in the Pacific Northwest.

Phone cradle yes and I recommend not getting one. Sunroof probably not but if you pay enough money to BMW anything is possible.

Just order without smartphone option. Mine doesn't have the cradle and love all the space.

You can absolutely get one without a cradle, but my dealer said they could not remove.

Just don't order Smart Phone Integration for $200 and you won't get the cradle, the other stuff it includes you probably don't care about, but if you do, you can turn them on with coding. My last car I thought I needed it to get the extra office functions, but didn't order it in the new car and really no difference - I removed it in my last car and just stuck some stick on stuff over the holes, but here is a DIY and the part number for the panel without the holes http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=963790

I removed my cradle, never used it, took up the whole console, very easy to do. Will probably try and sell it

Is more than removing a couple hex screws?
Still a smaller compartment design right?

It is a super easy job and you can buy the backplate to cover the opening
