One thing I noticed in our new 40e is that it has a cigarette lighter and an ash tray. In my '15 X5 I don't remember having an ash tray (not sure about the cigarette lighter). Is this an option I missed or do all F15's come with a cigarette lighter and an ash tray?

BTW we are non-smokers!

If you look at the detailed code for your VIN, I suspect you will find "Option No. 441 Smokers Package" is listed. It appears from the above linked thread this is an option you can delete in some countries on the F15, but not in the US. Some owners simply remove the ashtray and the lighter element. Perhaps your dealer did this for you on your previous X5.

I was surprised to find this as well. Also, a lighter in the back of the console for the back seat.

this is an extra option we have to tick in EU (the smokers package)
default the cars are without lighters here in EU

you can purchase an oem ashtray delete and oem black caps to replace the lighter.

I consider it as just another power outlet. You also never know when a lighter in a car could come in handy. I'm thinking kindling a fire on a camping trip type scenario.

Where could these be purchased? I looked on the BMW accessory page and could not locate anything to replace the ash tray.

"Lighter element" (61346969134) > "Stopper plug-in socket" (51168222183)

for the rear doors, replace :
"Ash tray, left" (51427293177) + "LEFT ASHTRAY INSERT" (51427292553) > "Covering left" (51417292087)
"Ash tray, right" (51427293178) + "RIGHT ASHTRAY INSERT" (51427292554) > "Covering right" (51417292088)

Just pull and replace the ash tray part while leaving the lighter plug there.

Unfortunately no.
I never thought anyone would need to see how it looks installed, since it is just a rubber mat replacing the plastic tray.

Does your site have any method of paying other than PayPal? I tried to order this piece but when I got to the payment screen I couldn't find any other option. I don't have a PayPal account.

I don't have it listed, but I can order it if you want.
Usually a lot of people have USB charger plugged in all the time, so no cover needed.

Brian,

I only use Paypal.
You should be able to pay using Paypal without having an account.
By the time my website bring you to Paypal page, all the way on the bottom it shows "Pay with Debit or Credit Card".
Click on that if you don't have or don't want to open a Paypal account.

Received. Love that the bottom of that pocket is now rubber and my spare change doesn't rattle around anymore. My phone also stays propped up when in the pocket. Thanks!
