Look familiar?
This has a lot of Z4MC design cue in it, don't you think? => https://www.yahoo.com/autos/opel-bab...165027986.html

I'm not sure that behaviour is attributable only to GM, jd...
After all, isn't the Z4, and a lot of other sports cars 'inspired' by the likes of the Jaguar E type? It seems like everyone is just copying everyone else. After all, aren't all cars really just boxes with 4 wheels attached? (This from a guy that hates GM with a passion btw) -gc |

I don't know about that. The Opel GT looks a lot more like a Stingray than the Z4. I just happen to have a Z4 and an Opel side by side (well there's an Audi in the way )

Really beautiful xmetal...that audi
I think the worst copiers are the koreans now though... Some of the Hyundais I see look just like Mercs, it's hilarious. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I guess! -gc |

I think that's the mission statement for Hyundai and Kia.

Who copies who? I owned a Triumph GT6 with an inline 6, which has the overall profile of my Z4MC. Long hood, short hatchback fastback, 260Z, E-Type, etc...

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

do you spend a lot of time dealing with electrical issues on that car? I've always liked Triumphs, but I've heard terrible things about the electrical reliability. |

I said I "owned" one, I do not currently own one. I've hear of electrical issues with them, but have only had a alternator fail in many years and miles. The electrical system is pretty basic on these cars so I don't what kind of issues they have. I had both a GT6 and a spitfire, both the same car except the hardtop vs convertible and 4 vs 6 cyl engine. Kinda like the E85 vs E86 with the exception of different engines.

Electric componentry for British cars were supplied by Lucas Electric. Lucas has long been the butt of jokes about the English automobile's electrical gremlins. Going back to the late '60's, I've played with Triumphs and have not experienced any real difficulties. As Pungo said, they're pretty straightforward and simple electrical systems. Now having said that, here's a decal affixed to my tool box.
And here's my '68 Triumph GT6. I've been its caretaker since 1983. Last edited by 3798j; 01-31-2016 at 08:34 PM.. |

gas-can and Vanne...Thanks for the kind words.
The other red cars: '85 Corvette...purchased in 1990, not worth much, still enjoy it. '66 Triumph TR4A...purchased in 2003, had one in college, loved it then and now. '64 Corvette...purchased in 1986, this makes some really good noises. '55 Ford F100...purchased in 2000, re-done as a resto-mod-rod. |

Lovely TR4A
Lucas "God of darkness" has been given a bad rap methinks. Having owned multiple British cars TVR, MGA and Marcos all with Lucas components I had very few issues. As others have said the wiring in the 50s, 60s and 70s cars is very simple and easy to troubleshoot.
