Lightbulb "Are You Ready For Some Football" in LOS ANGELES???

Those of you living in LA will soon have Pro Football in your city:

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...014806988.html

Quote:
By a vote of 30-2, NFL teams approved the long-anticipated move of the St. Louis Rams franchise to Los Angeles, a city that has been vacant by the league for more than 20 years.

The franchise confirmed the move Tuesday night.

Team owners met in Houston on Tuesday and approved Stan Kroenke's plan to move the Rams franchise to Inglewood, Calif., into a proposed $1.9 billion stadium. The Rams moved from Los Angeles following the 1994 season but now are moving back.

The San Diego Chargers soon could eventually join them. They have one year to negotiate a deal to move into a shared stadium.

The meetings features a day's worth of presentations and negotiations, but ultimately the tandem of the Chargers and Oakland Raiders were denied their bid to enter into a shared stadium in Carson, Calif. Chargers owner Dean Spanos, after it became clear he didn't have the support in his co-bid, started to negotiate a deal with Kroenke, talks that reportedly are ongoing.

The Rams — and the Chargers, if they come to a deal — will pay a relocation fee of a whopping $550 million.

The Raiders are on the outside looking in, which is not surprising. It’s highly likely that the NFL will give the team concessions — either money for a new stadium locally or aid in relocating to another city. It’s likely some of the relocation money from the Rams and/or Chargers could be funneled to the Raiders for being left out in the cold.

Somehow, Oakland is going to pull the money together. I wouldn't hold your breath.

The only reason this excites me is the fact that I will get to see the Panthers play at some point in LA. Otherwise, not a fan of the Chargers or the Rams.

I agree with ya. Plus Jerry Jones will do everything in his power to prevent another team in Texas.

Even if they move back here to LA, I wouldn't be impressed, but IMO they're a far better team than Chargers or Raiders... I have yet to see a douchebag Rams fan (but then again I haven't seen many), but holier-than-thou Chargers fans and wannabe gangster Raiders fans are a dime a dozen around here.

Makes me wonder how many people will abandon whoever they've been rooting for all these years to take the bandwagon to the Rams just because they finally have a team in LA though.

I have some distant cousins in Pittsburgh (but enough to justify my stance as a fan), so I won't give up 10 years of fandom for some newfangled local team.

Where are they gonna build the stadium? LA is mega cramped.
Or will they use the Rose Bowl as temp stadium?

Not positive BUT... They will find somewhere even if it's currently occupied!

ANY team that makes a move will have to pay the NFL $550,000,000! So you know the owner of said franchise will get with City Officials and make sure they can recoup that revenue. I would not be surprised if it's near Downtown! Can you imagine...
I don't live there but have been plenty and my Mom does live there.
So Cal is ALL about them dollars...

It's going to be built in Inglewood- that's where the lakers used to play before staples center.

They are most likely going to be playing at the Coliseum for the 2016 year while they build the new stadium in Inglewood.

They won't be into the new stadium until 2019 season, in Carson across the freeway from the Miller Beer cans. Until then it's the Coliseum, where they used to play.

Carson was the proposed joint location for the raiders/chargers which whom proposal failed.

It's in Inglewood where the old Hollywood Park racetrack used to be

^^^ correct.

Happy we have an NFL team and actually liked the Rams when I was a kid here. Good for kids to grow up with the opportunity to go to NFL with their family and friends. Just need to find my old Rams hat now.
