The grille swap takes less than 10 mins on these F15's, no sense in breaking tabs or rushing the install to save time.

There are several DIY threads on this.. I suggest doing this when your engine is warm so that the plastics are more flexible.

Hey Kzang,

Are you able to post a link with the thread on the grille replacement?

I tired searching the forum on my work computer a few days ago and I see the thread on the double slatted grilles, but not the DIY installation.

If you are able to post the link here, i can finally install my glass black grilles this weekend because they have been in my livingroom since November, lol.

Thanks.

Yep.. here you go

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...ighlight=grill

As I said above, the key is a warm engine bay so that the plastic trims are more flexible.. I did mine during freezing temps and had a hard time with scratched and bruised hands

Looks awesome.

I had the dealer do mine and I watched the workshop guy install them.

He was really aggressive and literally ripped them off one by one with force.

Others were simply installed and it all took 5 minutes. No damage at all.

For anybody else attempting this, simply look at the replacement grilles and where the clips are located. If you lift the intake snorkel out of the hole and remove the cap on the other side it shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to change them. You can also place wedges along the top as you pop the clips so that as your working towards the other clips they don't reclip back in place.

Is this guide applicable to non-M cars?

^^ tab placement and design look similar to the non M cars. I've tried to just pull it off but it didn't work for me..
I was too worried about scratching, breaking, and damaging tabs and inserts.
